Who we are
Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, which is a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations. At Samsara, we are helping improve the safety, efficiency and sustainability of the physical operations that power our global economy. Representing more than 40% of global GDP, these industries are the infrastructure of our planet, including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing - and we are excited to help digitally transform their operations at scale.
Working at Samsara means you'll help define the future of physical operations and be on a team that's shaping an exciting array of product solutions, including Video-Based Safety, Vehicle Telematics, Apps and Driver Workflows, Equipment Monitoring, and Site Visibility. As part of a recently public company, you'll have the autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.
About the role:
The Platform group at Samsara delivers the world's best end-to-end software experience for physical operations. Our mission is to provide reliable and secure infrastructure to power Samsara's platform and products, create exceptional user experiences across key surfaces like the web portal and mobile apps, deliver core customer-facing features that span the platform, and extend Samsara's capabilities with developer tools and a rich ecosystem of pre-built integrations.
As a Principal Product Manager on the Automations Platform team within the Data & Extensibility group, you will develop features that enable customers to create "if-this-then-that" (IFTTT) workflows based on IoT events. These tools will help customers monitor operations and take automated actions on their data, allowing them to harness insights at massive scale. Your work will have a direct impact on Samsara's revenue growth and customer satisfaction.
Reporting to the Senior Director for Data & Extensibility, this role requires close collaboration with engineering, data science, and design teams. You'll build capabilities that make a global impact, helping customers streamline operations and unlock the full potential of their data.
You should apply if:
- You want to impact the industries that run our world: Your efforts will result in real-world impact-helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions, and most importantly, ensure workers return home safely.
- You are the architect of your own career: If you put in the work, this role won't be your last at Samsara. We set up our employees for success and have built a culture that encourages rapid career development, countless opportunities to experiment and master your craft in a hyper growth environment.
- You're energized by our opportunity: The vision we have to digitize large sectors of the global economy requires your full focus and best efforts to bring forth creative, ambitious ideas for our customers.
- You want to be with the best: At Samsara, we win together, celebrate together and support each other. You will be surrounded by a high-caliber team that will encourage you to do your best.
In this role, you will:
- Own the strategy & product roadmap for the Automations Platform - define the most important problems to solve for customers, and work backwards from winning.
- Leverage data to understand customer requirements and market needs to ensure effective prioritization of features and build the long-term strategy for the area.
- Work with a talented team of product managers, engineers, data scientists, and designers to drive execution to meet the product release plans.
- Communicate across product line leadership to share your roadmap, evangelize your priorities, and seek out areas of joint innovation.
- Partner with customer-facing teams to close strategic accounts, resolve escalations, and maintain relationships with top customers.
- Champion, role model, and embed Samsara's cultural values (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally.
Minimum requirements for the role:
- Deep expertise in product management with a proven track record of operating & delivering complex initiatives.
- Excellent technical understanding, ability to grasp technical concepts and establish credibility with engineers.
- Strong analytical skills, strategic mindset and the ability to synthesize customer insights and data into a cohesive strategy and product roadmap independently.
- A proven track-record of delivering outstanding results for customers & the business, managing significant complexity & tight timelines. You also have a bias-to-action and aren't afraid to get your hands dirty.
- Excellent communication skills. Must be comfortable presenting to customers, executives, and internal audiences, adjusting your communication style based on your audience.
- 10+ years of job experience, in relevant product, technical, and/or business roles. 7+ years of experience in product management.
An ideal candidate also has:
- History of working on successful B2B products & working directly with enterprise customers.
- Experience with both external and internal customers as key stakeholders to manage in roadmap planning and development.
- Prior experience within a technical/consulting role such as software engineering, data science, management consulting, and technical program management would be hugely beneficial.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in a technical field; an MBA is a plus.
