Principal Structural Design Engineer

Roughan & O'Donovan (ROD) is looking to recruit a principal structural design engineer with 10 to 15 years' experience for a permanent position within our expanding buildings team.

Location: Sandyford, D.18 or Santry, D.17, with agreed flexible working arrangements.

About the role

You will join a buildings team recognised for delivering high quality, cost-effective and sustainable building projects across a range of sectors, including residential, healthcare, education, and commercial.

We work with architects, developers, local authorities, and property owners to develop robust, long-lasting building designs. Our buildings achieve the top certifications within sustainable design, including LEED and BREEAM.

Responsibilities

• Manage several engineers and technicians to deliver large-scale building projects.
• Work in a team and/or independently.
• Mentor junior engineering staff in all aspects of design.
• Ensure compliance with safety and ethical issues in engineering design.

Minimum Requirements

• Honours degree in structural/civil engineering (Level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent).
• 10-15 years' relevant experience.
• Chartered status with a recognised professional body.
• Full driving licence.
• Fluent/highly proficient in spoken and written English.
• Structural design experience in accordance with the Eurocodes for concrete, steel, masonry, timber, and foundations.
• Knowledge or experience of BIM, Revit, or Robot.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD.
• Knowledge of building regulations and technical guidance documents.
