With our projects growing in scale and complexity, we are seeking a Procurement & Contract Manager to join our team in North East England. This role offers the opportunity to play a critical part in the procurement lifecycle of multi-disciplinary engineering projects, with a focus on both commercial and contractual oversight.

The Opportunity
As Procurement & Contract Manager (Quantity Surveyor), you will lead the procurement and contract administration functions across various projects. You'll work closely with project teams to manage equipment and service procurement, negotiate contracts, and oversee compliance and supplier relationships. This is a key delivery role requiring sound technical and commercial judgement in a fast-paced project environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead procurement from pre-qualification through to tender and contract execution
  • Negotiate contract terms and secure favourable outcomes for the business and clients
  • Provide contract administration including variations, payments, and close-outs
  • Support project teams in interpreting and applying NEC4 and other standard forms of contract
  • Liaise with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure contractual compliance
  • Provide accurate and timely commercial and cost reporting
  • Work closely with project teams to deliver quality outcomes aligned with scope and budget
  • Contribute to safety and quality initiatives and ensure compliance with company systems

About You

Qualifications & Training

  • Relevant degree (essential)
  • Member of RICS or equivalent (preferred)

Experience & Skills

  • 10+ years in procurement/contract management, ideally within Life Sciences or related industries
  • In-depth knowledge of NEC contracts and engineering procurement practices
  • Strong commercial acumen with experience managing multiple large-scale packages
  • Proficient in MS Office and ERP systems
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and time management skills
  • Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
  • Comfortable working independently and as part of a wider project team
  • Full UK driving licence required
