Brief Description

About the role (External)
Role: Procurement Manager
Vacancy Type: Full-time but flexible working patterns will be considered.
Duration: Permanent
Salary: Band 4B (35,582 - 40,830)
Locations: The Quadrant Milton Keynes
This role sits within the Directs sourcing team within Route Services, a business area that has been created to supply services to our front-line teams and corporate business functions in the safest, most efficient, and effective way.
The team are responsible for conducting sourcing events for innovative solutions and design delivery within the major signalling and railway systems space, ensuring value for money is achieved through applying your commercial expertise and interpersonal skills. You will also be required to work in accordance with public sector procurement regulations. This role provides opportunities for a varied workload and would suit an individual seeking new challenges.
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A willingness to grow through exposure to new categories and the willingness to take on new challenges.
- A desire to learn and a commitment to proactive personal development.
- Experience in developing and implementing sourcing strategies using a structured sourcing process, aligned to business needs and objectives.
- Strong interpersonal skills to support stakeholder management and cross-functional working.
- Aptitude for commercial problem solving in the context of a large and complex organisation.
- Manage the sourcing activities for medium cost and business risk opportunities and work collaboratively with relevant customers and stakeholders to create and deliver commercial and contractual value.
- An appetite to support the wider team on high cost and complex projects.

- Recognised skills in contractual and commercial matters, with credibility and experience to act as advisor to other staff.
- Successful procurement background with practical intermediate level experience.
- Contributed towards maintaining successful relationships with suppliers.
- Knowledge of relevant contract terms.
- Strong negotiation skills.
Desirable
- Membership of appropriate professional institution.
