Working Pattern: Our work style is hybrid, which involves spending at least two days per week, or 40% of our time, at one of our office sites.

About This Opportunity

We have a fantastic new opportunity to lead our Product & Schemes team within the Merchant Services (MS) Lab, a key division of Business Transaction Banking, which provides card payment solutions for business ranging from micro sellers up to large corporates.

The Merchant Services Lab is responsible for managing end to end product development and delivery, as well as day to day management of the MS product suite. The product suite encompasses face to face and online payment solutions for our customers, as well as behind the scenes capabilities that empower business growth and deliver compliance with our regulatory and scheme requirements.

We're looking for a motivated and enthusiastic leader, who will juggle multiple initiatives, partners and mentor team members. The ideal candidate will be able to bridge the gap between business, change and technical teams, whilst delivering outcomes for Merchant Services that deliver against our ambitious growth objectives.

As the leader of the newly formed Product & Schemes team, you and your team will be responsible for:

  1. Day to day management of the product suite, which includes POS Solutions, Value-Added Services, Acquiring and terminal hardware.
  2. Development and management of the Schemes roadmap & backlog, ensuring ongoing compliance with product and fee mandates, oversight of scheme bulletins and partnership with Lab teams to deliver the Schemes backlog.
  3. Management of the product catalogue, including partnership with CCO partners to ensure ongoing Consumer Duty and other regulatory requirements are maintained to a high standard.
  4. Management of key investment initiatives and innovation opportunities with scheme & other partners.
  5. Partnership with Product Owners and Partners to develop and deliver on the product roadmap to deliver across Merchant Services Strategic Pillars.

What You'll Need

  1. A payments background and a comprehensive understanding of the Merchant Services landscape in the UK.
  2. Deep experience in card schemes, and in particular management of both scheme product and fee mandates for acquirers.
  3. A strategic approach with the ability to think laterally, take initiative and lead your team as they partner with Lab Product Owners and Engineering Leads to develop and implement on our product strategy and roadmap.
  4. Demonstrable management experience working in a cross-functional team, communicating with both technical and commercial partners on a day to day basis.
  5. Outstanding collaborator management & interpersonal skills - to influence up and down the organisation, and able to present sophisticated information simply.
  6. Risk Management & Control and Regulatory Awareness and Understanding - identify, assess, supervise, control, and mitigate risks across the business. Ensure effective governance, oversight, and controls. Understand the regulatory framework & requirements in which the business operates.
  7. Experience of building an outstanding team environment that attracts and retains talent and you'll understand what it means to be a role model to support a culture where people can grow and develop.
