Reporting to: David Atkinson, Head of Design

What we are looking for:

We value designers who see themselves as problem solvers and take pride in delivering polished, perfect designs. We're looking for a designer who can inspire others, collaborate with teams, and grow the value of our brand.

We foster a collaborative environment in which ideas are shared and feedback is welcomed. We work in a fast-paced, agile & lean setting in which we prefer to iterate to reach the right outcome.

In this specific role, you'd be taking on a broad set of design requests from our product teams focused on working on user flows to executing pixel-perfect designs. In many cases, your designs will be one of the first experiences our users have with the brand.

Some projects we are currently working on:
  • Redefining a product design system for all of Flawless' product portfolio.
  • Refining UI components of our design system.
  • Helping establish the look and feel of our in-app communications.
  • Harmonizing how color is used across the product.
  • Email templates.
  • Support user testing by mocking up prototypes.
  • Working with product and engineering teams.
  • Supporting customer success by designing engaging documentation and onboarding collateral.
Future areas of work also likely to include:
  • Building UI modules for new product offerings.
  • Compiling a list of backlog must-have UI/UX enhancements.
  • A/B testing of landing pages and creative collateral.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for helping define the application look and feel through maintenance of the company design system.
  • Collaborate - Work with cross-functional teams to produce high-quality and brand-appropriate design experiences across all our surfaces.
  • Autonomy - Seek additional information from analytics or stakeholders, work independently with cross-functional partners, and work with engineers, marketing, and the creative team to execute pixel-perfect designs and interactions.
  • Process - Execute on a defined direction/strategy, owning the process from need-finding to execution: coordinating research (stakeholder interviews, ideation, competitor auditing), analyze and hypothesize, create multiple wireframes and user flows, execute perfect visual designs, work with engineering and product managers on implementation.
Requirements:
  • Extensive experience as a visual or product designer.
  • Ideally some experience in application design or the design of visual tools, e.g., Figma, Tableau, etc.
  • Ability to be multi-disciplinary and fast, working across various teams, many on tight deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively trade off priorities and balance across various teams.
  • Ability to work closely with people from product, marketing, and creative to effectively understand design requirements and deliver and execute concepts and campaigns for our customers.
  • A digital portfolio that displays a visually stunning array of interactive work showcasing your grasp of branding, typography, color, grid, scale, balance, design system experience, and hierarchy.
  • Excellent communication skills: you can easily convey your rationale and thought process to any audience.
  • Organization: you are highly organized and can help us build out durable design processes and rituals.
  • Self-motivated: We make sure our designers are well equipped for success and expect you to manage your own milestones, deadlines, and priorities.
  • You are comfortable with the tools of the trade and can move across them depending on the task at hand: Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, Miro, Trello, Google Suite, After Effects, etc.
  • An understanding of film or the entertainment industry would be welcome.
The skills you'll gain/use:
  • Working incredibly cross-functionally with many different teams.
  • Develop an acute eye for detail and "polish at speed."
  • Be a champion for design best practices inside any product team you are embedded in.
  • Being a representative of the brand from a design perspective.
  • Growth in both visual and product design skill sets across a wide variety of disciplines.
