Hours: 35 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

Reports into: Product Team Manager

Location: Hybrid - A blend of working from home and your nominated hub office, we have hubs in London, Bristol, Manchester and Oxford. Specific patterns for working in the office are not mandated, and the frequency of time worked in the office is agreed with your manager. Meeting in person is something we value so you may need to travel on occasion to any of our hub offices.

About the team:

The Product team in the Student Services department of the Customer and Sector Enablement Directorate (CSE) is responsible for managing and developing websites Prospects, Luminate and Hedd and their associated products and services. The team comprises of product owners and product managers as well as QA and UX specialists. All members of the team work together, often cross functionally to deliver products and services which are world class.

About the role:
As Product Manager you will be required to discover, understand and action the commercial opportunities available in order to fund these services. Therefore you are a crucial support to the sales function, delivering training and insight into our audience, customers and competitors. In this way you will contribute to the concept and delivery of the portfolio of advertising products and their pricing and performance strategy.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Experience of delivering a product portfolio on time and within budget is essential
  • Create new, cost effective products which meet the needs of the customer
  • Support sales staff in the conception and development of pitches for clients including client visits.
  • Be the subject matter expert regarding products and market you have responsibility for and train internal staff on this knowledge.
  • Monitor and analyse the performance of products and recommend improvements to the wider team.
  • Monitor and report on product sales including discounting activity and profit.
  • Provide feedback from sales staff and stakeholders to the wider team on products and services.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge and understanding of the behaviour of Prospects' B2C and B2B personas
  • Preparation and effective delivery of external training & presentations, regarding products and services
  • Carry out market research and competitor analysis where required to ensure we remain competitive.
  • Help develop and deliver strategy around product development and distribution.
  • Make informed decisions about resources which offer the business value for money.
  • Work with the product team to deliver a road map of product and feature delivery.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • A strong background and experience in product marketing is essential
  • A proven track record of successfully articulating value propositions to internal and external customers within a product marketing role would be great to have
  • Experience running campaigns on social media platforms is advantageous
  • Experience in managing a product portfolio would be nice to have
  • Experience working in or with the education sector is a benefit but not essential
  • You will be effectively able to visualise & communicate data for public consumption.
  • Evidence of strong writing skills, and the ability to articulate points of view clearly and concisely in meetings, events, presentations and training.
  • Good numeracy, with an understanding of profit and loss, statistics and analysis
  • Ability to grasp IT concepts and communicate to a wider audience, whilst developing rapport with teams and customers.
  • You will need to be a good listener who can engage and encourage feedback from teams and customers.
  • Evident experience of systematic and organised work practices.
  • Creative and inquisitive thinker with the confidence to explore innovative ideas and problem solving.
