The Role
The Product Portfolio Manager within the Product and Transformation function is a senior role responsible for strategic planning and innovation across a single value stream. This position involves extensive liaison across product teams to ensure executive and board-level outcomes are aligned and integrated. The ideal candidate will have deep knowledge of various capabilities within the organization and a broad understanding of external capabilities, particularly in the wealth management industry.
Outcomes of the Role
Strategic Planning and Innovation:
- Develop and drive strategic initiatives across the business value stream.
- Foster continuous improvement and innovation in products and associated business processes.
- Create and maintain a product portfolio roadmap and backlog for multiple large and complex products.
- Ensure the product portfolio aligns with strategic goals and delivers value to stakeholders.
Liaison and Collaboration:
- Work closely with product teams, including Product Owners, Delivery Leads, and Scrum Masters, to ensure cohesive and aligned outcomes.
- Collaborate with external stakeholders and capabilities, including Business Design, Data, Application Management, and wealth management industry experts.
- Manage costs and budgets for licensing, resources, and external spend exceeding £5 million.
- Ensure financial decisions align with strategic objectives and provide value for money.
Governance and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to oversight and control frameworks established by the Product Transformation Office.
- Implement and maintain robust governance practices to manage risks and ensure compliance.
Outcome Delivery:
- Ensure that portfolio-level outcomes are joined up and aligned with executive and board-level expectations.
- Drive the delivery of strategic goals through effective portfolio management and cross-functional collaboration.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Extensive experience leading and working with agile delivery teams.
- Experience operating across multiple dependent deliveries, with demonstrable experience of effectively managing cross-dependencies.
- Demonstrable experience and/or certifications in project management, product management, or relevant areas.
- Broad understanding of external capabilities, including Business Design, Data, and Application Management.
- Good knowledge of the wealth management industry.
- Strong ability to develop and drive strategic initiatives.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven experience in managing significant budgets and financial planning.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information to senior stakeholders.
- Experience in implementing and maintaining governance frameworks.
- Strong understanding of regulatory and compliance requirements.
