Job overview North Central London Cancer Alliance (NCLCA) is looking for an Innovation Project Manager to join our team working to identify and implement sustainable innovative solutions in cancer care across North Central London.
The post holder will work collaboratively with clinical, administrative, and academic staff across the geography to improve early cancer detection, diagnosis, care and treatment through the sustainable embedding of novel, innovative solutions. This is an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager who has experience and knowledge of developing and delivering innovation projects and is passionate about improving cancer pathways within North Central London.
NCLCA is a collaboration of NHS and other bodies, hosted by University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We work to promote early diagnosis, optimise pathways, reduce variation, provide personalised support for patients, and build service resilience. Patients and carers are at the heart of what we do.
The post holder will work with colleagues and partners across North Central London to support delivery of our Innovation Programme in 2025/26, with a focus on early diagnosis.
This is an exciting time to join the Alliance, as we seek to drive forward an ambitious strategy, in collaboration with the North Central London Integrated Care System.
The post is a full time contract until 31 st March 2026.
Main duties of the job The post holder will be a key member of the team and the main duties include, but are not limited to:
Working for our organisation The North Central London Cancer Alliance (NCLCA) works in partnership with multiple NHS providers across primary and secondary care and with local authorities in North Central London (the Boroughs of Camden, Islington, Haringey, Barnet and Enfield).
We are a team of 34 people with expert clinical support and guidance from a further four clinical leads.
We are a diverse, dynamic, cohesive and ambitious team, committed to upholding the UCLH values of kindness, teamwork, safety and improving.
We are based in an office on Wimpole Street, central London. Hybrid working is the norm, with the expectation that all staff will come into the office at least once a week.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities For the full Person Specification and more information regarding the main responsibilities of this role, please refer to the attached Job Description.
This is an exciting time to join the Innovation Programme as we look to deliver a pipeline of novel innovative solutions across our geography in 2025/26. The role provides an excellent opportunity for an individual who brings strong project management and stakeholder engagement skills and is keen to work in the NHS and in the field of cancer.
We are seeking an individual with enthusiasm and relevant skills who is adaptable, well-organised and a determined team player. You will bring dynamism, positivity and a collaborative attitude to the NCL Cancer Alliance team and will be given the opportunity to work on groundbreaking advancements in the delivery of cancer care, treatment, and research both at the local and national level.
You must have experience of developing high-quality project plans and a track record of successful project delivery. Given the complexities of delivering innovation projects, it is preferable that you will have experience within this area although this is not essential. You will bring innovative thinking and strong analytical skills to contribute to project development and delivery in a complex, multi-stakeholder environment, and be confident to challenge senior clinical and managerial stakeholders where appropriate.
You will need highly developed communication skills, articulate in both verbal and written, and be adept at working with both qualitative and quantitative data sources.
You will be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment and whilst our team are on hand to support, will be expected to perform autonomously. You must have experience in managing complex budgets, and ensure resources are allocated appropriately across the programme.
This would be an excellent role for an individual interested in working within cancer and who is seeking to grow their project management experience within the NHS.
If this role fits your profile, we would love to have you as part of our team.
