About the RoleAs a Project Manager in our Major Works & Capital Projects team, you will play a vital role in delivering projects that support community growth and sustainable development.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced professional to oversee a dynamic portfolio of construction projects. From initial project planning and procurement through to delivery and completion, you'll ensure that every project is delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard.
Working with a range of stakeholders, you'll address technical and regulatory challenges while maintaining clear communication and collaboration across council departments, stakeholders, contractors, and the local community.
Key Responsibilities- Support the planning and development of capital projects that align with the Council's priorities, leading them through all stages-from formulating briefs and managing procurement to ensuring compliance with contracts, planning regulations, and health and safety standards.
- Foster collaboration with stakeholders, end users, contractors, and consultants to ensure projects meet council objectives and community needs.
- Oversee project budgets within a diverse programme, ensuring accurate expenditure monitoring, documenting variations, and adhering to financial regulations.
- Maintain governance and compliance with relevant legislation, council procedures, and industry standards such as CDM, RIBA, and RICS.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to Trainee Project Managers and Project Officers, promoting professional development within the team.
We are seeking an experienced construction project manager with:
- A proven track record in delivering capital projects on time, within budget, and to high-quality standards.
- Strong knowledge of planning permissions, building regulations, and health and safety standards, including CDM regulations.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to inspire teams and foster collaboration across departments.
- Experience managing significant budgets and implementing change control processes.
- Proficiency with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, CAD) and the ability to prepare clear technical documentation and reports.
