Python Platform Engineer - Python SME - Automation - Financial Services

Excellent opportunity opens for a Python Platform Engineer to act as a Leading Financial Services Entity's Python SME. The successful candidate will join the Platform Engineering team, a group of highly skilled engineers who partner with the firm's development, support and infrastructure groups to solve engineering problems that cut across different product streams.

Python is used across the business to build automation, perform data analysis, and build machine learning models. The successful candidate will be our Python Subject Matter Expert and will support those in the Technology, Front Office, and Quantitative Technology Services teams.

The successful candidate will also work closely with the Quantitative Technology Services team to productionize their Machine Learning models. This will involve creating deployment pipelines and setting up monitoring.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Drive our Python strategy, tooling, and best practices.
• Support Python developers across the entire organisation with their projects.
• Create standards. Build out documentation, guidelines and best practices.
• Improve Developer Productivity. Identify issues developers face, create and roll out solutions.
• Ensure compliance with security policies and best practices.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies.
• General knowledge of databases and parallel/distributed computing techniques

SKILLS & EXPERIENCES ASSESSMENT

• Proven experience as a Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar.
• Strong knowledge of Python programming.
• Familiarity with containerisation technologies (eg Docker, Kubernetes).
• Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code tools (Ansible, Terraform).
• Experience with VCS systems (we use GitLab) and CI/CD tools (eg GitLab CI).
• Skills in Machine Learning engineering.
• Understanding of how to use REST APIs and build integration with other tools.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• The following are not required, but would help your application:
• Previous work with Real Time systems (trading or event-driven applications).
• Experience with cloud platforms (eg, AWS).
• Experience with developer tooling (eg IDEs, Nexus, Sonarqube).
