Senior Consultant - UK Civil Engineering
A leading Civil Engineering and Rail Infrastructure Main Contractor are actively seeking a Quantity Surveyor / Estimator for a permanent position near Glasgow.
This is an excellent opportunity for either Quantity Surveyor or Estimator looking to continue their professional development and hone their skills and experience in a rail and civil engineering project environment.
This role is unique in that it will be a blend of both a Quantity Surveyor and Estimating role working on a long term, secure framework.

- Projects can typically include civil engineering works and infrastructure projects such as: Roads, bridges, footbridges, tunnels, underbridges, flood alleviation / repairs, embankments and rail platforms etc.
What you'll be doing:
- The successful Quantity Surveyor/Estimator will be responsible for preparing tender and contract documents, including performing risk, value management and cost control;
- Working on civil engineering and rail infrastructure projects, you will also be responsible for managing costs from inception to completion to minimise cost and maximising value for money.
- Pricing and ensuring estimates are submitted accurately and on time
- Resolving pricing issues with clients
- Liaison with Site Managers to collate information on day to day remits
- Subcontractor management
- Change management and early warning
- Contract administration (NEC forms of contract)
What you'll need to be successful:
- The ideal candidate will be degree-qualified, with at least an HNC in Quantity Surveying;
- Experience in rail infrastructure, although any civil engineering background will be considered;
- At least 3+ years' post-graduate experience in Quantity Surveying;
- Experience in dealing with NEC Contracts is beneficial.
- The works are fast paced and high in volume and require an experienced commercial candidate with the ability to handle works in this type of fast pace environment.
