Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Safeguarding Adults CNS to work collaboratively with the Head of Safeguarding Adults & the Mental Capacity and the safeguarding adults team. The role will provide professional and clinical support to the multi disciplinary and multi partnership teams at all levels across divisions and external partners, ensuring that safeguarding adults, Learning Disabilities (LD) and the application of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) is safely delivered to the highest standard at UCLH.

The Safeguarding Adults team provides safeguarding adults services to all eight of the Trust's hospitals. As a key team member, you will play a vital role in developing the services. The post requires you to be able to work collaboratively and independently and offers the opportunity to participate in complex and highly sensitive settings.

The Safeguarding Adults & MCA CNS has a vital role to play in ensuring that patients receive the highest standard of care and remain safe when using our services. You will have at least 5 years experience in an operational setting and a sound knowledge of safeguarding adults and the MCA.

Main duties of the job

You will have a wide range of skills and the ability to think and work across boundaries and have experience in working within a multi disciplinary and multi agency settings. Working with Social Service and various multi agency partners, you will be responsible for translating and applying the Mental Capacity Act, national and NHS England strategies and principles to support staff to safeguard vulnerable patients at risk, from admission to discharge. You will be a key member of the team providing a clinically knowledgeable and responsive service. You must be a skilled change agent with excellent interpersonal abilities.

Person specification 1. Knowledge & Qualifications
  • Registered Nurse Part 1, 2
  • Degree in health-related subject or equivalent experience (BSc honours)
  • Teaching Qualification/equivalent
  • Recognised Leadership Qualification
  • Good Knowledge base on Safeguarding and the Mental Capacity Act
2. Experience
  • Minimum 5 years operational experience in acute hospital setting
  • Understanding and knowledge of relevant national strategy, policy and legislation, and how this relates to the Trust's services
