Job Description
The key responsibilities of the Safety Manager include:
- Develop and Implement Safety Policies in line with group guidance: Create and enforce safety policies, procedures, and protocols in accordance with local and government regulations, as well as RBI and Burger King standards.
- Training and Education: Conduct training sessions for staff members on proper food handling, storage, preparation, and hygiene practices.
- Inspection and Audit Compliance: Conduct regular inspections and audits of kitchen facilities, equipment, procedures, suppliers to identify potential hazards, ensure compliance with food safety standards, and address any deficiencies promptly.
- HACCP Implementation: Develop and maintain Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) plans to identify and mitigate food safety risks throughout the food production process.
- Supplier and Vendor Management: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure services provided mitigate safety risks.
- Incident & Crisis Management: Develop contingency plans and protocols for responding & investigating safety related incidents, or emergencies. Coordinate with relevant stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, to manage and resolve safety issues effectively.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training sessions, incident reports, and compliance documentation.
- Regulatory Liaison: Liaise with enforcement authorities (both verbally and in writing) as appropriate.
- Pest Management: Work with Pest Control Contractors & internal stakeholders to eliminate/mitigate pest infestations in restaurants.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Work with & empower Whopper Support Departments to drive positive safety culture & performance.
The Successful Applicant
The ideal candidate will have a background in:
- Food Safety Level 4 and NEBOSH Certificate.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in operational food safety management.
- Thorough knowledge of food safety regulations (e.g., FDA Food Code, HACCP principles, allergen management) and industry standards.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to train and motivate teams to maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential food safety risks.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications and food safety management software systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
