Shelley Manor & Holdenhurst Road Medical Centre are looking for a forward-thinking GP to join the team. We look after 27,000 patients across 2 sites in East Bournemouth.
We are a supportive and successful training practice, with a strong ethos of staff development. You would be joining a robust MDT made up of 10 partners, 5 Salaried GPs/Retainers, Trainees, ANPs, Nursing team, Pharmacy team, Social Prescribers as well as our management and admin team.
We work closely with our PCN who provide a Visiting Service, a proactive Enhanced Care Team for our frail and housebound patients, and we have a PCN access service based at Shelley Manor which provides on the day clinical capacity, a PCN respiratory service supported by clinical and admin staff, and a mental health support service. We have a close working relationship with the community nursing team who are also based on-site.

Your Role- 4-8 sessions per week with flexibility on days worked.
- Regular clinical meetings and daily coffee break with the opportunity for a lunchtime walk or run along the beach.
- Mix of telephone and face-to-face appointments.
- Newly revised GP rota - maximum 13 patients per session with 15 minutes for all routine appointments.
- Supportive of specialist interests and career development - we welcome applications for the GP Fellowship Programme.
- Non-clinical and clinical leadership opportunities at enhanced pay rates.
- Option for additional out-of-hours work through the PCN.
- Highly effective workflow system, dedicated admin team and care coordinators to streamline administrative burden.
The following are the core responsibilities of the salaried GP. There may be on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:
- The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population.
- The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract.
- Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance.
- Effective management of long-term conditions.
- Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks.
- On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles.
- Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance.
- Working collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload.
- Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process.
- Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice.
- Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) of the QOF.
- Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required.
- Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including; clinical governance, training, financial management and HR.
- Ensure compliance with the appraisal process.
- Prepare and complete the revalidation process.
- Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team.
- Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines.
- Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure.
- Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies at all times.
- Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, promoting a culture of continuous improvement at all times.
- Experience of working in a primary care environment.
- Experience of continued professional development.
- Experience of QOF and clinical audit.
- General understanding of the GMS contract.
- Experience of medicines management.
- Experience of CCG initiatives.
- Qualified GP.
- MRCGP.
- Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP.
- General Practitioner (Certificate of Completion of Training CCT).
- Polite and confident.
- Flexible and cooperative.

- Problem solver with the ability to process information accurately and effectively, interpreting data as required.
- High levels of integrity and loyalty.
