Role: Senior/Specialist Occupational Therapist - Outpatients

Town / Site: London / The Portland Hospital

Full time: 37.5 hours Permanent

We are looking for a Senior / Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our passionate and dedicated team at The Portland Hospital. Currently rated Good by the CQC.

Main duties of the job

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure that a professional, high-quality Occupational Therapy service is delivered to the children and their families.
  2. Work independently and with a sense of autonomy, providing appropriate assessments and treatment interventions.
  3. Engage in independent treatment planning for clients and participate in joint MDT working for appropriate goal setting meetings.
  4. Promote service development within the department alongside the Clinical Lead and supervisors.
  5. Supervise students and provide appropriate clinical and learning opportunities.
  6. Supervise therapy assistants and provide relevant learning.
  7. Undertake ongoing CPD learning opportunities to ensure personal skill development.
  8. Contribute to the development of specialist services and relevant policies.
  9. Promote OT to all stakeholders.

Job responsibilities

The role of this Senior / Specialist Occupational Therapist post will primarily involve the assessment and treatment of your own clinical caseload of Outpatients covering a wide variety of diagnoses including but not limited to cerebral palsy, autism, developmental delays, congenital and genetic differences, as well as wheelchair and equipment assessments and prescriptions.

Although this role is predominantly outpatient based, there will be an expectation that the candidate will assist with the management of the inpatient caseload as needed.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • BSc (Hons) in Occupational Therapy (or equivalent).
  • Current registered member of Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Minimum 2 years experience in Paediatrics in a clinical setting, such as an outpatient clinic or hospital.
  • Knowledge and application of paediatric OT assessments and interventions relevant to a paediatric client group.
  • Experience working with an outpatient caseload with varying knowledge and experience with different conditions and diagnoses.
