We are excited to recruit a Senior Clinical Fellow for MSK specialty within the Imaging directorate.

Role Summary:

  • To join a friendly and welcoming busy tertiary centre imaging UK department, delivering first-class specialist imaging services and a bespoke separate neuro, vascular and body on-call.
  • To develop and finesse imaging skills in many aspects of diagnostic and interventional MSK imaging.
  • To become confident in presenting independently in multi-disciplinary team meetings and leading clinic-radiological discussions.
  • To retain and enhance experience with general acute/in-patient and out-patient cross-sectional imaging.
  • To be supported in submitting a high-quality CESR application.
Main Duties of the Job

This is an exciting opportunity to undertake a senior fellowship alongside a team of 48 Consultant Radiologists in a busy UK tertiary centre imaging department with a diverse and busy MSK workload. We are a level 1 major trauma centre (MTC) and support an acute thrombectomy service for the treatment of stroke. You will work with 7.5 substantive consultants and 1 locum consultant with sub-specialty interest in MSK imaging, providing diagnostic and interventional radiology services to Trauma & Orthopaedics, Spine, and Rheumatology Directorates. You will quickly become skilled in all aspects of reporting, intervention, clinical problem solving, and MDT presentation. You will be supported during the first few months of the fellowship, gradually transitioning to working independently. Many senior fellows find they are working at consultant level by the end of their first year.

About Us

UHNM is a tertiary referral centre for Trauma and Orthopaedics serving a population of approximately 1.5 million. The Trust also provides specialised services for 3 million people in a wider area including neighbouring counties and North Wales. The trauma and orthopaedics department has 29 consultants, and the spinal team has 9 dedicated spinal surgeons providing all aspects of surgical intervention including spinal deformity correction, oncology surgery, and trauma. There is a huge demand for MSK intervention services including image-guided injections, arthrography, myelography, biopsies, nerve root blocks, and vertebroplasty. In addition to our two main hospital sites (Royal Stoke and County Hospital in Stafford), we are privileged to have the Haywood Hospital nearby housing specialist services for rheumatology and rehabilitation. It is a centre of excellence with an active research team recognized nationally and internationally. We have state-of-the-art equipment including MRI (8 scanners) and CT (9 scanners), 22 US machines, fluoro, on-site PET, and a dedicated IR Day Case Unit with 8 beds. US and CT guided ablation is also planned for 2025.
