About the Role
EssenceMediacom is seeking a Senior Commercial Manager to work for the growing Media Futures Group (MFG) working mainly on our Google client in EMEA, helping to meet demanding client deliverables on an ongoing basis, as well as supporting the UK Commercial Team in managing local UK clients. This is a very exciting opportunity to work with our Google team 75%, as well as helping the Commercial Director look after other UK clients 25%.
Reporting to the EMEA Commercial Director based in London, this position is a key member of the MFG Commercial team helping the Commercial Director in managing all client deliverables, as well as internal deliverables including month-end income reporting, quarterly forecasting processes, and managing year-end client as well as statutory audit.
This role requires someone who thinks big, thrives under ambiguity, and has a strong sense of ownership. The role requires excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to be a trusted partner to our clients, our client services teams, as well as our finance colleagues across all markets. Expect daily interaction with leaders within EssenceMediaCom from across the EMEA markets. The successful candidate will:

- Work within a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment to provide commercial and financial rigor.
- Work with Commercial Director in delivering monthly and quarterly client deliverables for our Google Client in EMEA.
- Own top line forecasting across MFG EMEA in collaboration with FP&A.
- Support data needed for client and executive team global fin/ops dashboards.
- Understand EMEA commercial model and ensure compliance across the region and identify the most influential business drivers to optimize revenue.
- Support with Commercial Director and global Commercial team in client negotiations for remuneration model, rate cards, incentives, SOWs, etc.
- Work collaboratively with Resource Management in EMEA to manage the EMEA staff plan.
- Partner with MFG leadership and convey data-driven insights and recommendations related to resource mix and allocation and revenue.
- Work closely with the EMEA Media/Ops teams to ensure data integrity across financial systems and tools including the master campaign forecast.
- Responsible for ensuring compliance with our internal month-end process across the region and specifically in the UK.
- Work closely with CS, Media Teams, Billing & AR Managers to ensure contract compliance and healthy net-working capital.
- Develop a deep understanding of Clients' contract structure to answer regional questions.
- Support Client audits and Google-related matters for SOX.
- Provide regular and Ad Hoc reporting/analysis to Client Services teams, Client Finance teams, and Regional Finance teams.
- Support Global team to field ad-hoc requests by Executive Leadership and Senior Client Services team related to Google.
UK Commercial Team Support:
New Business
- Lead on UK pitches and collaborate with Global Commercial on Global Pitches.
- Collection, consolidation and review of remuneration and other commercial elements for major global, regional and UK commercial pitch proposals.
- Support with new client transition management ensuring new clients are effectively onboarded in accordance with the agreed commercial terms.
- Support Legal & Business Affairs Director with new client contract negotiation.
- Work with and support the commercial managers with discussions with key stakeholders throughout the UK agency to prepare commercial proposals for new business and out of scope fee proposals.
- Collaborate with heads of Social, Search, Biddable and all specialist units in pricing one-off projects.
Day to day Commercial Support
- Work closely with Client Presidents and client leads to help improve margin and profitability at both client and business unit level.
- Utilise client profitability to identify potential areas of improvement, supporting client growth plan process.
- Review the UK Commercial Terms ensuring it is updated on a regular basis and distributed to Exco/key stakeholders.
- Support Commercial Director in (Re)negotiation of contracts and terms of business which reflect scope of work and ensure profitability.
- Collaborate with Resource Management in understanding resource need and ensuring new requests for hire have a justifiable business case for role review meetings.
- Review the risk and opportunity register that informs the forecast for potential client wins, increased/decreased scopes and clients at risk.
A bit about yourself:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- A qualified accountant with most experience in Advertising and Media, ideally in a commercial role.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and their practical application.
- Strong analytical orientation. Skills in financial analysis, including review of financial statements and analysis of key business metrics.
- Prior experience in the use of financial and accounting systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including the ability to interact professionally with all levels of the organization.
- Ability to work independently and simultaneously balance multiple projects and processes.
