Contract type: Permanent

The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation. We improve health for everyone by funding science, leading policy and advocacy campaigns, and building partnerships.

We plan to spend £16bn over the next ten years, funding new discoveries in life, health, and wellbeing, and taking on three global health challenges: mental health, infectious disease and climate and health.

These challenges need the bold science we support, but they won't be solved by science alone.

We are looking for two Senior Content & Social Media Producers to join our team on a permanent basis.

Where in Wellcome will I be working?

You will be working in the Digital Content & Social Media team, which is part of Corporate Affairs. These roles report to the Digital Content & Social Media Lead.

The Digital Content & Social Media team plans, creates, commissions and maintains digital content across Wellcome's website (wellcome.org), our social media channels and email communications.

The team includes the Digital Content & Social Media Lead, three Senior Content & Social Media Producers and three Digital Content & Social Media Producers. They work with teams across Wellcome to ensure our digital content is mission-focused and impactful.

This work supports Wellcome's Corporate Affairs team in building and sustaining the trust, influence, reputation and brand that will help us ensure science works for and with the people we seek to benefit.

What will I be doing?

Our Senior Content & Social Media Producers plan, create, edit, and commission digital content that supports our mission and delivers on our influencing and engagement work.

The Senior Content & Social Media Producers will join Corporate Affairs as key members of the wider digital communications team, continuously improving wellcome.org and our social media channels with engaging content that is informed by data and audience insight.

We are looking for someone who can:

  1. Lead content production and design for Wellcome's digital communications channels, including website and social media, bringing together content created by the content team, Wellcome staff and external contributors and advocates and making sure it is useful and engaging.
  2. Plan, write, create, edit and commission content to a quarterly planning cycle that meets organisational goals and is tailored to audience needs across channels.
  3. Embed an efficient content production process and help to maintain the content calendar to ensure excellent content is published across channels on time.
  4. Advise and support the Digital Content & Social Media Producers to develop and deliver content plans, manage our social media channels and monitor and report on content performance.
  5. Embed our anti-racist and anti-ableist principles and involve minoritized communities when developing digital content.

Is this job for me?

We're looking for two senior content producers with significant experience in planning, producing and editing digital content. You should be comfortable creating the content yourself as well as briefing others and outsourcing through commissions.

These roles will suit experienced content producers interested in developing and delivering insight-driven content strategies across channels. You should be comfortable building relationships with a range of stakeholders at all levels of an organisation, as well as working in a team spanning different communications disciplines.

The Senior Content & Social Media Producers provide support, guidance and coaching to other content producers in the team and colleagues creating content around Wellcome, offering opportunities to develop leadership and management skills.

We are looking for someone who has:

  1. Significant digital content planning and production experience, producing for a digital agency and/or in-house digital content position.
  2. Experience developing effective, collaborative working relationships with a range of stakeholders and working well in a multidisciplinary team to achieve results.
  3. Project management experience, from concept to delivery.
  4. Significant experience of writing, editing and creating content for different audiences across different channels.
  5. Experience of setting and working to a busy schedule, working under pressure in a fast-paced environment and to tight deadlines.
  6. Experience of using content management systems, social media platforms and analytics tools.
