We have a fantastic opportunity within our Energy business for an ambitious and talented Senior Design Manager, Overhead lines

The successful candidate will be joining the existing team of passionate and dedicated managers.

We are looking for managers who have a wealth of knowledge in the main contracting market and who share our passion for the project at hand whilst also being able to work within a fun and hardworking team environment.

The Role

As a Senior Design Manager, you will:

  • Manage the design aspects of tenders / preconstruction activities and projects in progress.
  • Oversee our preconstruction and early contractor involvement (ECI) design activities.
  • Oversee all Overhead line design.

The Candidate

Already experienced as a Senior Design Manager, you will be educated to degree or HNC/HND level in a relevant technical discipline. You will be a member of an industry recognised professional institute (e.g., CIOB / ICE / IET), and progressing your route to chartered status, if not already obtained.

You will have experience on both tenders, preconstruction and project delivery within civil infrastructure, and ideally you will have a sound knowledge of the Energy and Power markets.

Experience required in the following:

  • Experience of preconstruction / tender design appointments.
  • Ideally experience of Energy, in particular overhead lines.
  • Experience of working to a NEC 3 / 4 form of contract and associated change mechanisms.
  • Experience of design consultant appointment and management of scope and programme.
  • Experience of design management processes and procedures.
  • Experience of BIM is beneficial.

About our Energy business

We have extensive experience in upgrading and replacing energy networks, delivering asset management for major UK energy companies and network operators.

Our transmission and distribution services involve the upgrading and replacement of electricity assets both above and below ground. Within the electricity sector, we install and maintain assets, including excavation, laying and jointing of cables (fluid filled and XLPe), substations, and overhead line, new build, repair and refurbishment services.
