Senior Electrical Engineer

Location: Bristol
Rate per Hour: £45.87

About the Role: We are looking for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to join our client's team in Bristol. You will be supporting project delivery across multiple sectors, including residential, commercial, healthcare, education, transportation, defence, and energy. This is a great opportunity for an engineer with strong technical expertise to contribute to innovative, sustainable projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understanding and interpreting project briefs.
  • Designing and specifying Electrical Building Services systems (power, lighting, telecoms, security, etc.).
  • Managing the production of detailed calculations using industry-standard software tools (e.g., Excel, Amtech, Dialux/Relux).
  • Preparing technical specifications using NBS.
  • Collaborating with the global team for value-added solutions.
  • Working with the BIM team to create models and drawings (Autodesk Revit experience preferred).
  • Conducting site surveys and inspections, monitoring site works.
  • Writing technical reports and notes.
  • Maintaining records and archives to company standards.
  • Adhering to quality, environmental, and governance processes.
  • Managing project delivery elements, including budget and progress reporting.
  • Assisting with the technical development of junior staff.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related fields.
  • Chartered Engineer (CIBSE or IET) preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in Amtech/Prodesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS, and Microsoft Office tools. Experience with HV tools is a plus.
  • Familiarity with energy reduction methods and decarbonisation strategies.
  • Knowledge of energy and carbon-related data capture and analytics.
  • Understanding of building physics principles (passive design, fabric-first approaches).
  • Experience in design consultancy and contractor environments.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant technical standards.
  • Ability to take charge of projects, make decisions, and work proactively.
  • Excellent report writing skills and experience presenting to clients.
  • Comfortable working within time and cost budgets.
