WSP has an opportunity for an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer in our London office, focusing on the Data Centre sector with our Mission Critical Facilities team. You will have the opportunity to work on some of the most exciting and technically challenging projects within this fast-paced sector. WSP is currently involved in numerous projects, working with Colocation Providers, End Users, and Enterprise clients, both within the UK and across EMEA.
Responsibilities- Support the team in developing conceptual designs for electrical distribution systems from EHV, HV, MV to Low Voltage incorporating high voltage equipment, generation equipment, UPS plant, low voltage switchgear, and power control and monitoring systems.
- Provide advice to clients regarding electrical systems/requirements available to meet their business needs.
- Lead the design of data centre electrical systems and equipment.
- Provide written reports of system options in the form of design development notes.
- Produce technical specifications for electrical systems, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and client requirements.
- Ensure coordination with other disciplines including Architect and Structural engineers.
- Produce calculations, technical/equipment specification documentation for tender.
- Monitor installation of designed equipment/systems to ensure compliance with employers' requirements, design specifications, and all relevant safety codes.
- Engage in a client-facing role discussing technical subjects with the ability to discuss and agree on client requirements.
- Work independently and as part of the WSP global project team.
- Work closely with likeminded individuals on exciting and challenging projects.
- Our Building Services team in London consists of more than 100 mechanical, electrical, and public health engineers including our E&S and Smart Team members.

- You will be based in our Devonshire office in London, offering easy commuting options and a load of amenities just around the corner.
- Chartered status with CIBSE or IET (or working towards Chartered status) or equivalent experience.
- Technical knowledge of relevant UK & EU regulations, design guides, etc.
- IT literate with a technical understanding of relevant IT packages i.e. Trimble (formerly Amtech).
- An understanding of the ETAP software package for HV modelling (Fault current, current flow & harmonics).
- An understanding of the Neher-McGrath method of calculating underground cable temperatures & ampacity.
- An understanding of the Tier classifications as defined by The Uptime institute, TIA942 and EN50600.
- Able to work as part of a team as well as effectively lead, direct and mentor individuals.
- Understanding of working with RevitMEP or other 3D design software to allow the allocation/direction of work on projects.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD to allow the allocation/direction of work on projects.
- Large Power (11Kv) Distribution Systems.
- Electrical Building Load Assessments.
- Standby Generation and UPS.
- Fire/Voice Alarm and Security Systems.
- Data Centres and Financial Services Establishments.
- Lighting Design (internal and external).
- Lifts.
- Combined Heat and Power Plant.
