The role
Are you ready to make waves in the maritime industry? Damen Naval in Vlissingen is looking for an interim Senior Engineer Structures to contribute to the engineering of state-of-the-art ship structures. If you have a passion for naval engineering, expertise in 2D and 3D modelling, and thrive in a collaborative environment, this is the opportunity for you!

Key accountabilities
In this interim role of Senior Engineer Structures, your responsibilities will include:

• Develop 3D models of ship structures, construction plans, section and foundation drawings, and outer deck arrangements.
• Execute engineering activities using 2D and 3D PLM tools, ensuring adherence to schedules, quality standards, and budget constraints.
• Independently manage complex projects and provide guidance to colleagues.
• Collaborate across disciplines to deliver optimal solutions.
• Advise on technical challenges, suggest improvements, and participate in stakeholder discussions to achieve consensus.
• Oversee outsourced detailed engineering, verifying subcontractors' technical performance.
• Ensure compliance with statutory rules, regulations, and industry norms.
• Develop yard and project standards and contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes.
• Foster knowledge sharing and retention within the department.
  

Skills & experience
For the vacancy of Senior Engineer Structures (Interim) Damen Naval is looking for candidates with the following qualifications:

• Bachelor degree in a technical field, with at least years of relevant experience.
• Extensive knowledge of structures engineering, preferably for ships or offshore installations.
• Proficiency in 2D and 3D PLM tools, ideally 3DX.
• Proven expertise in structures engineering, particularly in complex projects involving statutory bodies, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Strong track record of delivering high-quality engineering solutions.
• Proficiency in English; Dutch language skills are a plus.
• Key competencies: customer, results and quality orientation, teamwork, behavioural flexibility, problem analysis, communication, and initiative.
• Excellent references, as a security screening is part of the hiring process.
• Permanent EU citizenship and passport are both required. Candidates with EU (work) visa or with (also) a non-EU nationality and/or passport are not eligible given the requirements imposed by the military nature of our projects.
