One of Carbon60's clients is looking for a Senior Engineering Project Manager to join the team within the defence sector.
Job Title: Senior Engineering Project Manager
Location: Stevenage (preferred), Bristol, or Bolton
Duration: 12 Months (likely to extend)
Pay Rate: Up to £60 per hour
Work Pattern: Monday - Friday, Hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days onsite per week (flexible)
Travel Required: Occasional travel, approximately 4 times per year, mainly to Stevenage and possibly to France
Security Clearance: SC required (not BPSS Start, not UKEO)
Interview Process: 1 stage, 1-hour collaboration room
Job Description:
As a Senior Engineering Project Manager (SEPM), you will be responsible for delivering our most complex and priority projects on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will drive the design, development, and delivery of our highly complex electronic sub-systems, from concept through to full production. This is a fantastic opportunity to be a senior member of the project management team and contribute to our delivery strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver significant projects/programmes on time and within budget.
- Manage projects across various phases, from conception and initiation through manufacture and qualification to customer delivery.
- Drive the design, development, and delivery of complex electronic sub-systems.
- Implement Project Management best practices, including Risk Management, Stakeholder Management, Compliance Management, Configuration Management, and Earned Value Management.
- Influence others with excellent communication skills.
- Maintain an organised approach with attention to detail and pride in delivery.
Essential Qualifications:
- Preferred background in Engineering, Science, or Electronics.
- Experience in managing detailed design of electronics products (e.g., printers, small thermostats) and engineering development.
- Open to various industries, excluding automotive.
- Experience with companies like Alter electronic, E2V, BAE Systems is a plus.
- Experience in Project Management best practices.
- Background in engineering development, ideally of complex systems or electronic units.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
