Location: Hybrid / London

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Estimator to join our team. The successful candidate will manage the estimating team on an exciting new major programme to produce detailed cost estimates for all phases and support the design optioneering process.

You'll:

  1. Be responsible for preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for all phases of the major programme, including preliminary budgets, detailed estimates, and regulatory submissions.
  2. Control and manage the estimating process at programme level.
  3. Develop the estimating scope, including bulk material quantities, infrastructure, degree of modularisation, transport and installation, site manhours (with consideration to proposed constructability methods and practices), commissioning, indirect labor, client costs, engineering and design.
  4. Write estimate plans, review the scope of work, develop & assemble estimate data, review estimates (discipline, management, client), and write estimate basis document with qualifications & assumptions.
  5. Analyse project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to create comprehensive estimates.
  6. Use industry-standard estimation software and methodologies to develop cost models.
  7. Identify and evaluate potential risks and uncertainties associated with the project estimates.
  8. Incorporate risk mitigation strategies into cost estimates and develop contingency plans.
  9. Lead project meetings to discuss and refine cost estimates and project budgets.
  10. Maintain a database of cost information and benchmarks for future reference.
  11. Implement best practices and innovative techniques to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of cost estimates.
  12. Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and validate estimates.
  13. Interact with project team members from all design disciplines in different locations, including project management, client reps, and other 3rd party consultants.
  14. Facilitate both internal and external estimate reviews and presentations with Senior Management, clients, and project team members.

We're looking for:

Essential:

  1. Qualified to high standard in Estimating, Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or equivalent industry experience;
  2. Wide and varied experience of construction projects;
  3. Wide and varied experience of estimating methodology, Parametric, Unit Rate, Benchmarking, etc.
  4. Relevant successful experience of provision of estimating and/or QS services in a large project environment;
  5. Understanding of project management, planning, risk and investment processes;

Desirable:

  1. Membership of a relevant professional body with chartered status and/or educated to degree level;
  2. Practical experience of different estimating software, CANDY, Causeway, CostX, COSTOS, etc.
  3. Preferred degree in quantity surveying or associated construction field;
  4. Membership of RICS / CIOB / A. Cost E.
