WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT

In our Global Sustainability unit, we shape the sustainability strategy of BASF Coatings GmbH. We manage the reduction of our carbon footprint, create transparency on the environmental impact of our actions and our products and develop new business opportunities for our portfolio.   • In this role, you lead our Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) team by engaging in scientific discussions regarding results and calculation methods, while promoting LCA and related tools to support business decision-making and marketing efforts.
  • You provide expert knowledge on regulatory frameworks and standards, such as ISO 14040ff and 14067, and are responsible for continuously advancing methodology development and implementation.
  • In collaboration with IT specialists you design and develop innovative instruments for LCA that evaluate products, applications, and services across the entire value chain, ensuring effective customer interaction. Additionally, you calculate Life Cycle Inventories (LCIs), Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs), and Carbon Footprints for EC products and activities, while effectively communicating results and sustainability impacts to various business and functional units and you prepare and participate in tenders with expertise and calculations.
  • You develop as well as support the implementation of appropriate solutions for specific IT landscapes (e.g. Sustainability Footprint Management).
  • Your contributions are significant in sustainability reporting efforts in accordance with international standards, such as the GHG Protocol and CSRD, including impact analyses and tracking sustainability targets while proposing suitable measures for impact reduction.
  • Lastly, you actively engage with global stakeholders across functions by sharing your expertise, conducting training sessions on LCA and sustainability topics, and delivering presentations to customers and at public events.
WHAT YOU OFFER
  • Master's degree in natural sciences or engineering with broad knowledge on chemistry / chemical engineering and production technologies; coatings / surface treatment technologies is beneficial
  • strong knowledge in Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and Sustainability Assessment methodologies across industries (ISO 14040ff, 14067, TfS, PEF) as well as s everal years of experience in LCA Modeling, data processing and advanced impact analysis using different methodologies and databases
  • solid understanding on methodological and legal requirements for using LCA in marketing (Green claims, business model development), on EU taxonomy and CSRD reporting is beneficial
  • scientific knowledge on Sustainability topics (climate change, resource depletion, emission categories, etc.)
  • solution-orientation, open-minded and thinking out-of-the-box with passion for Sustainability
  • very good communication skills for advanced customer interaction and selling, fluency in English and basic in German, further languages beneficial
