Salary: £63,000 - £65,500 depending on experience plus bonus

Location: Chipping Sodbury Hybrid

Hours: 40 hours per week


Purpose of the role

Utilising extensive finance expertise and business understanding to develop and maintain a meaningful financial analysis and support function in close cooperation with the business partner, contributing to the performance of the business. Enhance business performance by influencing the business in making informed decisions by collecting, analysing and providing correct, useful financial information.


Key accountabilities

Management Support and Finance:

  • Maintain and foster effective relationships with business partners and Commercial and operational Teams
  • Work autonomously, acting as the expert drawing from in-depth financial and business understanding
  • Collect, analyse, and interpret financial data as well as prepare ad hoc financial reports, models, presentations, and recommendations for business lines
  • Pro-actively identify improvement opportunities & develop best practices in line with broad annual goals
  • Review and support business in preparation of capital papers as necessary

Planning and Forecasting:

  • Coordinate with, and support the business partner on ensuring appropriate planning and forecasting processes to provide country and business line management with relevant and reliable forward-looking business information
  • Support and give guidance to the business partner and business lines on the preparation of budgets and forecasts, ensuring accuracy and usefulness
  • Specifically calculating average 'BOM's' by site and product group to generate a raw material consumption and cost for Asphalt and material requirement for Aggregate sales forecast

Accounting:

  • In conjunction with the SSC and RCC; ensure the preparation and presentation of accurate financial accounts, which comply with national accounting standards and statutory requirements
  • Liaise and coordinate with the business partner and business to ensure that all business line specific events are correctly reflected in the financial accounts
  • Take ownership and analyse diverse queries that arise, and draw from financial and business understanding to find solutions
  • Support & advise Business partners in ongoing review and challenge of business processes and best practice
  • Lead analysis on raw material cost / PGM by product group for sites and areas, including effect of changes in product mix and bitumen prices

Compliance/processes:

  • Support & advise compliance to all relevant, up-to-date company and statutory requirements
  • Support & advise business lines on process improvements

Job requirements

  • Experience:
    • Significant commercial finance experience in a medium to large sized organisation
    • Commercial and strategic business acumen
    • Up-to-date knowledge of technical accounting and financial reporting guidelines

Education:

Professional accounting qualification, ACA, ACCA or CIMA with demonstrable post-qualification experience
