Job Description

Adecco Public Sector are currently partnered with a regulatory body to recruit a Senior Financial Accountant to join them on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract.

This is a key role within the organisation, building and maintaining relationships with financial and non-financial colleagues across the business as well as externally.

You will support financial reporting requirements, in particular the management of the organisations tax function.

You will produce timely and accurate financial information for reporting purposes, whilst ensuring overall compliance with financial accounting standards and policies.

Responsibilities

Management Information and Data Analysis:

  • You will be required to build and maintain working relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders, including HMRC, National Audit Office, Shared Services providers and the Tax Centre of Excellence.
  • You will be the subject matter expert on tax related issues and be required to communicate effectively at all levels, often to explain technical and complex scenarios to non-technical staff.
  • You will have the authority to make decisions based on sound evidence, seeking advice where appropriate.
  • You will be expected to look for innovative ways to improve the service provided, taking into account relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Developing and maintaining financial reporting systems to provide timely and accurate financial information to internal and external stakeholders, including Senior Managers.

About you

To be successful in the role you will be able to display the following skills and experiences

  • Qualified accountant or working towards an accountancy qualification.
    • Proven experience of working with tax-related matters (eg PAYE, VAT and Corporation Tax).
    • Demonstrable ability to analyse and interpret complex financial information and 'translate' this into clear management information throughout the organisation, using a variety of presentation techniques.
    • High level of competence with MS Office applications, in particular MS Excel, and Word.
    • Strong attention to detail; consistently producing outputs to a high standard and providing a quality service.
    • Able to prioritise own workload in a busy environment, often with competing priorities, ensuring key deadlines are achieved.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to proactively lead on a range of tasks/projects.
    • Developed collaborating and partnering skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels within the organisation.

Location

This post may be undertaken from a base at any one of the organisations locations (Bootle, London or Cheltenham) on a hybrid basis.
