Senior Group Financial Reporting Manager

The Vacancy
To lead the production of both internal and external group reporting, including month end close processes ensuring procedural and control compliance within the function. Co-ordinate the delivery of the annual report and accounts, and project manage the external audit exercise.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the production of both internal and external group reporting:
- Understand all management reporting requirements to ensure the delivery of the financial reporting process is accurate, as efficient as possible and deadlines are met.
- Ensure management reporting continues to evolve to ensure KPI's are appropriate and commentary provides insight, particularly as the Group evolves and new products are introduced.
- Understand trends and variances to prior periods and budgets are fully understood and communicated. Provide challenge and support to wider financial reporting teams on their numbers.
- Identify weaknesses in reporting processes and output and work with peers to develop improvements.
- Review monthly and quarterly finance regulatory and statistical submissions ensuring compliance and deadlines are met. Accurately understand and embed new or changes to requirements as the Group evolves.
- Deliver change to improve reporting outputs and optimise month end processes, including implementation of group reporting onto reporting systems.
- Liaise with wider finance teams, including tax and treasury, to understand what may impact the numbers and how that can be managed most efficiently.
- Manage the delivery of the Group Annual Report and financial statements including key contact point for external providers and internal stakeholders such as investor relations, Company secretariat and Comms teams. Effectively manage stakeholders including senior leaders to deliver reporting in line with agreed timelines.
- Responsible for the delivery of statutory financial statements.
- Project manage the external audit exercise and half and full year, and act as key point of contact for external auditors.
- Compose Board and Committee papers ensuring narrative is consistent with management reporting.
- Analytical and technical accounting insight to support business areas, for example:
- Providing analytical support to new business initiatives when required.
- Work closely with other functions to understand complex transactions and arrangements such as impairment, tax and new treasury structures.
- Support Technical Reporting Manager on key priorities.
- Execute Financial Control to ensure compliance across the function.
What you bring to the team
- Experience of Group reporting and the overall delivery of internal and external financial reporting, including Group Annual Reports for listed companies.
- Strong technical understanding, including IFRS 9 and other financial services complexities.
- Expected to work off own initiative and provide solutions when problems arise.
- Experience of managing multiple stakeholders including senior leaders at critical time periods.
- Experience of line management of a small team.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate with people at all levels in an organisation, up to CFO level.
- Able to present financial plans and complex data analysis in simplified forms in order to facilitate review and challenge and to enable senior management decision making.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
- Ability to influence and challenge constructively at manager level and above.
- Line management experience of developing and coaching a team.
- Understanding and application of accounting standards and principles under IFRS.
- Solid time management skills to prioritise, delegate and organise to deliver in line with tight deadlines.
- Fully qualified ACA accountant with 5+ years experience in industry or practice with experience of working within a top tier accounting firm.
- Experience of working within a group function and at manager level within similar environments.
- A strong knowledge of IFRS accounting standards and technical understanding.
- Able to understand the principles and technical details of accounting standards and explain the impact on Group financial performance.
- A well-rounded experience of MS Office applications, in particular Excel and PowerPoint.
