Job Description

MCS Group is proud to partner with a leading energy sector organisation driving the transformation of Northern Ireland's power system to recruit a Senior Lead Engineer - Economic Analysis. This is your opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping a low-carbon future.

As a Senior Lead Engineer (Economic Analysis), you will be at the forefront of energy system scenario planning and modelling. You will provide strategic technical advice, develop future energy scenarios aligned with government policies, and deliver expert analysis to support decision making for transitioning and enabling a net-zero power system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead scenario planning and techno-economic analysis for the future power system.
  • Forecast energy system costs, interconnection opportunities, and flexibility needs.
  • Provide expert insights to support renewable energy and decarbonisation goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and strategy.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field with at least 5 years' experience in power system industry & electricity markets.
  • Excellent technical knowledge of energy systems, demand forecasting, interconnection and storage technology.
  • Expertise in energy system modelling, forecasting & scenario planning.
  • Proficiency in Excel for data analysis and macro/python coding development.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, consultation, interpersonal & communication skills with an ability to demonstrate flexibility and experience in writing and presenting technical reports.
