Senior Legal Counsel Trade Compliance (m/f/d)As Senior Legal Counsel Trade Compliance, you will play a critical role in ensuring Fresenius operates in compliance with trade regulations across global markets. Supporting the Trade Compliance function and its national and international entities, you will provide legal expertise on trade compliance matters, including import / export regulations, sanctions, and customs requirements. Your contributions will ensure adherence to global legal standards while fostering a culture of compliance across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Legal Advisory:
- Provide expert legal advice on trade compliance matters across the EU, UK, USA, and other relevant jurisdictions
- Interpret and apply import / export laws, customs regulations, sanctions rules, and trade agreements to business operations
- Contractual Expertise:
- Draft, review, and negotiate contract clauses addressing trade compliance issues
- Policy Implementation:
- Develop and implement legal frameworks to ensure compliance within corporate operations and global supply chains
- Create, update, and refine global compliance documentation, including guidelines, procedures, and SOPs
- Training and Awareness:
- Conduct training sessions and prepare educational materials on regulatory updates, court decisions, and administrative procedures
- Regulatory Engagement:
- Represent Fresenius in interactions with external parties and authorities concerning trade compliance issues
- Provide legal guidance on administrative proceedings and support during audits or inspections
- Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with internal legal teams, trade compliance experts, and business leaders to ensure cohesive compliance strategies
- Prepare and deliver presentations to internal and external stakeholders
- Continuous Improvement:
- Develop and analyze compliance questionnaires and reports
- Stay updated on regulatory developments, ensuring proactive adaptation to legal changes
- A degree in law with excellent academic credentials and a specialization in business law.
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in trade compliance within a corporate or leading law firm setting, including international exposure.
- Strong knowledge of procurement, logistics, customs processes, and sanctions compliance.
- Fluent English skills, both written and spoken; additional languages are a plus. Good German skills (min. B2).
- Proven ability to work independently and handle complex legal challenges with sound judgment.
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and conceptual thinking abilities.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proactive, results-oriented approach with a structured and goal-focused mindset.
- High degree of team orientation, intercultural competence, and flexibility.
- Demonstrated resilience, reliability, and a commitment to excellence.
