Job Description

We have a current opportunity for a Senior Marketing and Communications Professional (Estates) on a contract basis. The position will be based in Abingdon. For further information about this position please apply.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Marketing and Communications professional to support Culham Campus' estates, property management and built environment initiatives.

The role sits at the intersection of two mid-sized, cross functional teams - the Communications and Estates teams - and will focus on developing strategic campaigns related to planning communications, urban master-planning and building redevelopment. The aim is to shape Culham Campus as a dynamic and thriving environment for a diverse community of innovators across key sectors including fusion energy, robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace and life sciences.

The Role:

The position offers the successful candidate the opportunity to take ownership of UKAEA's real estate marketing and communications strategy, shaping how Culham Campus is positioned as a premier location for research, development and business growth.

Key responsibilities:
  1. Act as the lead communications advisor for the Estates division.
  2. Develop and implement marketing and communications strategies that align with UKAEA's goals.
  3. Ensure that the Estates division benefits from best-in-class communications approaches.
  4. Create and execute a marketing and communications plan that best promotes Culham Campus to current and prospective tenants.
  5. Collaborate with UKAEA's in-house communications team to coordinate messaging and effectively target key audiences.
  6. Foster exceptional relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leadership.
  7. Provide strategic insight and potentially manage two marketing team members solely focusing on Culham Campus' marketing and communications.
  8. Develop marketing and communications collateral, including press releases, opinion pieces, website content, case studies, branded collateral and event material.
  9. Assist with and/or devise the planning and management of events related to Estates initiatives.
  10. Offer strategic communications counsel to support the Estates division's objectives.

Location: The role will be based at UKAEA, Oxford, with opportunities for hybrid working.

The successful candidate will have a degree, relevant professional qualifications or at least 10 years' experience working in marketing and communications.

  • Proven success in devising and implementing impactful PR and marketing campaigns.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including mentoring and team development.
  • Expertise in the built environment.
  • Experience in crisis communications and be comfortable with using digital channels to reach a range of different audiences.
Further, you have other essential criteria:
  • Proactive across communications disciplines
  • Excellent writing and editorial skills
  • Hands on approach with the UK media, with contacts across national and trade property editors/publications
  • Cooperative team player who enjoys working in diverse teams
  • Ability to see the big picture and to find relevance for UKAEA in external contexts
  • Ability to assess information by its actual or potential commercial impact
