Senior Mechanical Engineer

NES Fircroft are partnering with our major Engineering & Services client to provide Mechanical Engineers at all levels for long-term projects based out of their Warrington office. Hybrid working available. 3-year project! Mon-Fri minimum 37.5hrs per week.

Job Role:
Required to deliver work packages across various system scopes for all 3-off Silo Emptying Plant (SEP) Machines, in a wide variety of mechanical handling and lifting problem solving scenarios.

Key Responsibilities

1. Originate and review engineering documentation
2. Support project optioneering process.
3. Review and accept project drawings and documentation
4. Attend design review and project meetings
5. Attend hazard identification workshops, optioneering reviews and stakeholder meetings
6. Manage detailed design activities following project standards.
7. Technical assessment and approval of contractors' work instructions/method statements/risk assessments.
8. Provide technical guidance of construction and/or deconstruction activities to ensure compliance with design intent.
9. Specify and provide technical supervision of commissioning and/or decommissioning.
10. Consult with stakeholders to ensure efficient and effective project delivery.
11. Comply with Environment, Health, Safety, Security and Quality policies and procedures.

1. Experienced in delivering fit-for-purpose mechanical design solutions to cost and schedule.
2. Ability to break down a problem/issue into constituent parts and present options for resolution.
3. Able to contribute to the production of, deliver to, and report on plans of work.
4. Able to communicate both verbally and in writing with a variety of stakeholders.
5. Has a working knowledge and understanding of regulations relevant to the delivery of machinery (SOMSR 2008, CDM, PUWER, LOLER etc.)
6. Is familiar with engineering drawings (including checking) and standards relevant to their production e.g. BS 8888 & GPS.
7. Can review, understand and challenge conventional engineering calculations per BS 2573 or similar standards.

1. CEng/IEng status preferred.
2. Ability and evidence of applying engineering judgement to make evidence and risk-based decisions.
3. Experience of creating manufacturing specifications and supporting manufacturing queries/issues.
4. Experience in the production of EO packs and supporting component Quality Requirements.
5. Experience in the production of Technical Files and accompanying deliverables and familiar with the EHSRs.
6. Experience in production and/or checking of design substantiation and Safety Case deliverables.
