Senior Mechanical Engineer (Design and Manufacturing)

Designing and developing innovative mechanical designs, feasibility analysis, materials selection, and performing engineering calculations. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet project requirements and are manufacturable. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating and maintaining accurate design documentation and staying up to date with industry trends.
Your key focus will be:
- Design and develop: Create innovative mechanical designs for products, components, or systems using CAD software and engineering best practices.
- Feasibility analysis: Evaluate the feasibility of design ideas and concepts based on factors such as cost, manufacturing limitations, and material properties.
- Design and analyze hydrodynamic seals and bearings.
- Materials selection: Select appropriate materials for mechanical systems and components based on factors such as strength, weight, durability, and cost.
- Manufacturing and Testing: Evaluate, improve, and support the manufacturing process, machining and fabrication techniques, inspection and testing including NDE processes.
- Engineering calculations: Perform complex engineering calculations, such as stress analysis, thermal analysis, and rotordynamics to optimize designs and ensure the reliability and safety of mechanical systems.
- Structural design and analysis: Design and analyze static components - Finite Element Analysis (FEA): Perform FEA to predict and mitigate stress concentrations, deformation, and fatigue in static components under various loading conditions.
- Collaboration with cross-functional teams: Work closely with other engineers, technicians, and manufacturing personnel to ensure that designs are manufacturable and meet project requirements.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and site maintenance teams.
- Lead failure analysis investigations (RCA) and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide technical assistance in the installation, commissioning, and startup of rotating equipment.
To be successful in this role you should have a combination of the below knowledge, skills, and experience:
- Experience in manufacturing processes.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
- Experience in rotating or static equipment design and development.
- Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar).
- Strong understanding of engineering calculations, including stress analysis and thermal analysis.
- Knowledge of vibration analysis, lubrication, bearing systems, mechanical seals/seal plans, and condition monitoring techniques.
- Experience in Design FMEA and HAZOP reviews.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to rotating equipment.
- Experience in international standards such as API/ASME Sec VIII, etc.
