Summary:
SLPE is seeking an experienced Senior/Principal Engineer (WTG Foundations) or established Engineering Manager to join our growing team.
In this role, you'll serve as a technical lead and/or engineering manager on major projects, working directly with clients and overseeing technical delivery alongside the project manager. Strong attention to detail and communication skills are essential, as you'll develop design solutions, solve complex problems, and collaborate with technical leads across engineering disciplines.
You'll manage technical tasks within your expertise whilst coordinating with fabricators and installation contractors. The role also includes potential technical and project leadership of smaller initiatives.

We are looking for someone with strong or emerging leadership skills who is proactive, motivated, and able to drive projects forward efficiently.
The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in structural design, particularly in secondary, primary, or FEA analysis. Experience with offshore wind foundation design is essential, along with broad technical knowledge.
You should have at least 8+ years of experience in the design, analysis, and project management of offshore structures, preferably within the offshore wind.
Strong communication and management skills are crucial for this role to contribute to our collaborative and flexible ways of working with clients. Strong written communication and presentation skills are essential for this role.
You must effectively manage multiple workstreams-handling your own tasks and supervising others' work-while confidently meeting challenging client demands.

The role offers a competitive salary range from £60,000 to £80,000 per annum, depending on level and experience.
Job Description:
Key Responsibilities:
- Technical leadership of the conceptual and detailed design of WTG foundations (monopiles, jackets, gravity-based structures, etc.) for offshore wind projects.
- Provide technical expertise and review of foundation designs, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project specifications.
- Collaborate with geotechnical, structural, and marine engineers to develop cost-effective, robust, and innovative foundation solutions.
- Build strong client relationships, ensuring that evolving project and client requirements are met while maintaining a sustainable workload for the design team.
- Review and approve design calculations, reports, and drawings for foundation structures.
- Manage engineering deliverables for foundation packages, including coordination with external consultants, contractors, and suppliers.
- Ensure project milestones and deadlines are met by managing resources, timelines, and budgets effectively.
- Interface with project managers as well as fabrication, transport, and installation teams to ensure alignment across different project phases.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, providing guidance on technical development and career growth.
- Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment, encouraging continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders including developers, certification bodies, and regulatory authorities to ensure alignment on project objectives and regulatory compliance.
- Monitor industry trends, new technologies, and regulatory changes to implement cutting-edge foundation solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation in WTG foundation design and installation methods, considering cost, safety, and sustainability.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, or Marine Engineering (or related field).
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent professional accreditation preferred.
- Proven expertise in Wind Turbine Generation (WTG) foundation design for offshore wind farms, including monopiles, jackets, and/or floating platforms.
- Leadership or management experience, with demonstrated ability to guide and develop engineering teams.
- In-depth knowledge of industry standards and guidelines for offshore wind and foundation design.
- Excellent written English skills, with strong attention to detail in both written deliverables and design drawings.
- Proficiency with offshore structure design tools.
- Strong project management skills, with experience overseeing large-scale engineering projects from concept to execution desirable.
- Ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks and projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with budget control, resource planning, and risk management is preferred.

- Demonstrated ability to grasp complex technical challenges across disciplines and manage their resolution effectively.

Additional Information:
This position is available in either London or Bristol. SLPE operates a hybrid working model, requiring staff to be in the office at least 3 days per week. Candidates based in Bristol must be willing to travel regularly to SLPE's central London headquarters-all travel expenses will be reimbursed.
