Job Description

We are seeking an exceptional Senior Philanthropy Manager to work as a senior member of our dynamic Philanthropy Office. Based within the highly collaborative Global Engagement Division, the Senior Philanthropy Manager will play a vital role in developing deep and meaningful relationships with high-net-worth donors and designing high-value fundraising projects that support the University's strategic priorities. The postholder will be integral to driving transformative philanthropic support for the University and ensuring that ambitious impact and income targets are met.

Working across a complex network of internal and external stakeholders, including academics and philanthropic partners, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record in securing 6-8 figure gifts. You will have a flair for developing impactful donor propositions and engagement strategies and an ability to provide collaborative and strategic leadership for large scale philanthropy initiatives. You will bring exceptional strategic planning skills, an ability to manage competing priorities and be strongly motivated to achieve goals.

What will you be doing?
  • Deploy exceptional motivational, negotiating, influencing, and networking skills, to build strong working relationships with senior stakeholders both internally and externally
  • Work with supporters to cultivate strong relationships and secure gifts of between 6 and 8 figures, often negotiating complex multi-year budgets and agreements for complex projects
  • Play a leading role in growing 6-8 figure philanthropic income in support of the University's ambitions
  • Work with academics and other colleagues across the University to develop impactful donor propositions that support the University's strategic priorities.
  • Take ownership of a flagship fundraising area
  • Design and deliver highly effective engagement strategies and exceptional stewardship
  • Nurture a culture of philanthropy across the University and build networks to uncover new 6-8 figure philanthropic opportunities

  • Can build exceptional internal and external relationships swiftly and motivate others to positively engage with the philanthropy process
  • Can develop exciting new philanthropy propositions in a complex environment, working in the detail whilst also keeping sight of the bigger picture
  • Are a natural storyteller that can write and deliver persuasive proposals to effectively generate philanthropic income
  • Are self-motivated, pro-active and strongly motivated to achieve goals. Have a collaborative and innovative approach that both respects and works across boundaries.
  • Like being externally focused and are keen to travel regularly to attend prospect meetings and events
  • Are curious about the world around you, can think creatively and manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Have experience in developing and securing gifts at the 6-8 figure level
