Job Description
Overview

Opportunity for a Senior Planner to join our Life Science Team in Oxford.

The Senior Planner is responsible for developing the baseline contract programme which includes design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover.

Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation of a construction (target) programme highlighting areas of improvement against the contract programme.
  • Develop tendering programmes and validate these with the supply chain including preparation of settlement information.
  • Ensure all programmes are fully logic linked to generate a robust critical path and subsequent float paths, and be able to analyze these.
  • Plan from first principles by developing own logic, assessing quantum of work, calculating periods, and resource loading.
  • Prepare sequence sketches and 'mark ups' for logistics, including planning workbooks to support the 'bases' of the programme.
  • Support the development of 4D programmes (desirable).
  • Engage with the supply chain to develop/validate the project programme regarding design, lead-ins, construction periods, plant & labour requirements.
  • Document programme risks related to H&S, commercial, quality, and time risks.
  • Include appropriate hold points for inspections and quality sign-offs.
  • Identify opportunities and create conditions to capitalize on these.
  • Familiarity with different forms of contract including NEC and make clear provisions for Time Risk Allowance (TRA) and Terminal Float.
  • Maintain electronic files and administration of planning and programme documents to facilitate retrieval as required, using the common data environment (CDE).
  • Produce contract and tender programme files to a high standard that can pass a (CIOB or DCMA quality check).
Experience
  • Successful record of working with clients, contractors, and other stakeholders on live construction projects.
  • Experience working within a team.
  • Extensive knowledge of the UK and EU legal framework, particularly contract management.
  • Experience managing & developing junior planners.
  • Experience in laboratory constructions and high-tech manufacturing facilities (desirable).
  • Effective communication and people skills required.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Experience in Asta Power Project & Primavera P6.
Qualifications
  • Relevant degree or diploma.
  • Qualifications in construction management.
  • Certification for use of planning and programme software (desirable).
  • Membership of a relevant professional body, where applicable (desirable).
  • Advanced Asta Powerproject Training - Progress Analysis & S-curve reporting.
  • Advanced Primavera P6 Training - Managing costs & resource management.
  • Advanced contract awareness - Understanding JCT and NEC forms of contract.
  • Basic BIM training and understanding of the common data environment.
