As a result, alongside several consortium partners, Balfour Beatty has been selected by BP (British Petroleum) to construct a first-of-a-kind fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage, which is a key driving force behind plans to make Teesside the UK's first decarbonised industrial cluster.
Balfour Beatty is seeking a dynamic Senior Project Manager experienced in civil engineering to lead one of our key construction areas on the Net Zero Teesside project based on site in Redcar, Teesside.
What you'll be doingAs the Senior Project Manager, you will be accountable to the Construction Director for the successful delivery of the site-wide civil engineering works, safely, on time, and to the required quality. You will lead and motivate a large team, inspiring collaboration and driving performance towards our shared goals.
- Project Leadership: Oversee a project area delivery of over £300m, ensuring adherence to safety, time, cost, quality, scope, and risk management.
- Team Development: Build and nurture high-performing teams, providing mentoring and support to empower team members.
- Safety & Compliance: Champion a culture of safety and environmental stewardship, leading initiatives that promote Zero Harm.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and collaboration.
- Risk Management: Lead risk reviews, maintain the Risk Register, and implement necessary changes to mitigate challenges.
- Digital Advocacy: Promote data-driven decision-making by ensuring reliable digital data is utilised throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proven track record in civil engineering project delivery and team management.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and safe systems of work.
- Commercial acumen with the ability to navigate high-pressure situations effectively.
- Experience across various project types and familiarity with project management frameworks.
- Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering.
