Senior Project Manager

JOB TITLE: Project Manager (Commercial & Agile Delivery)
REPORTS TO: Head of Transformation & Change

JOB PURPOSE
We are seeking a commercially focused and results-driven Project Manager (Commercial & Agile Delivery) to lead high-impact initiatives across commercial, engineering, product development, and financial projects. This role requires an experienced professional who can navigate shifting priorities, balance strategic objectives with execution, and drive measurable business outcomes. The ideal candidate has over 10 years of project management experience and thrives in fast-paced, high-change environments. They should be adaptable and flexible to evolving business needs, applying a pragmatic, outcome-focused approach to project delivery rather than rigid methodology. The role will require full lifecycle project execution, ensuring seamless coordination between commercial, technology, product, and operational teams.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Commercial & Agile Project Delivery
   • Lead end-to-end project execution, ensuring both commercial and technical elements are seamlessly integrated.
   • Adapt quickly to shifting business priorities and evolving requirements, balancing speed, quality, and impact while ensuring alignment with governance frameworks.
   • Apply Agile principles pragmatically to enable iterative delivery and incremental value realisation.
   • Own the project lifecycle from discovery and scoping to execution and commercial launch.
2. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Engagement
   • Act as the bridge between commercial, product, technology, and operational teams, ensuring alignment.
   • Communicate complex projects in clear, business-focused terms to senior stakeholders.
   • Align technical teams with commercial priorities to ensure the right trade-offs are made.
   • Influence and guide teams through ambiguity and changing landscapes.
3. Risk, Governance & Financial Oversight
   • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with strategic objectives.
   • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks, managing potential blockers before they escalate.
   • Maintain financial oversight, ensuring budgets, resource allocation, and return on investment (ROI) are well managed.
   • Track and measure benefits realisation, ensuring that projects deliver the expected commercial and strategic value.
4. Continuous Improvement & Adaptability
   • Embrace adaptability, refining project approaches based on evolving business needs.
   • Drive a function-over-form mindset, applying the right level of structure to ensure efficiency and impact.
   • Facilitate Agile ceremonies where applicable, ensuring alignment with business needs.
   • Provide coaching and guidance on best practices in agile and project delivery execution.

EXPERIENCE

• Over 10 years of project management experience in financial services, delivering complex commercial, technical, product, or financial projects.
• Experience in both Agile and hybrid delivery approaches across technical and non-technical domains.
• Demonstrated success in stakeholder engagement, influencing at senior levels, and balancing competing priorities.
• Financial oversight experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and ROI analysis.
• Previous experience in a technology-driven, data-led organisation is an advantage.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

• Highly adaptable and flexible, with the ability to pivot and adjust based on evolving business needs.
• Strong knowledge of Agile frameworks and principles, with experience in Agile project delivery.
• Ability to manage both technical and non-technical projects, balancing commercial and operational considerations.
• Exceptional stakeholder management, negotiation, and influencing skills.
• Strong financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
• Comfortable working in fast-moving, high-change environments, adjusting plans as required.
• Experience managing cross-functional teams, ensuring alignment between business and technical objectives.
• Proficiency with project and Agile delivery tools (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Confluence).
• Proven ability to deliver projects that generate tangible commercial value and business impact.
• Formal project management qualifications (e.g., PMP, APM, or equivalent) are beneficial but not essential.
