The role
As a Senior Project Manager - Future Programmes you'll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the projects, overseeing key aspects such as safety, scope, schedule, finance, risk, quality, and resources to achieve project objectives. You will manage projects in complex situations independently and lead others. A working knowledge of programme and portfolio level tools and techniques is essential.

Day-to-day, you will report to the Head of Future Programmes, who has overall accountability for delivering projects to support Future Fleet Operations activities at Clyde, including, but not limited to, Dreadnought, AUKUS, SSN(A), LTPA, EMP, UAG, Programme Euston and SWP.

  • Lead on Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality within the project.
  • Develop project documentation, including project plans, schedules, risk and assumptions registers, and technical specifications in accordance with published processes.
  • Deliver projects within the baseline performance, time, and cost envelope in line with project and business success criteria.
  • Establish and maintain governance arrangements for project delivery, defining clear roles, responsibilities, and accountabilities that align with the company Business Management System.
  • Accountable for planning and monitoring the programme (profit & loss); agree plans with the Sponsor and submit/present regular Monthly Review Reports indicating any deviations and corrective actions taken.
  • Manage the customer interface and the associated management of internal and external stakeholders.

This role is full time (37 hours per week) and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential experience of the Senior Project Manager

  • Significant experience within the UK Submarine programme or Defence Nuclear Enterprise (DNE).
  • Proven track record of managing projects in complex, dynamic environments.
  • Proficient in competencies such as Project Life cycles, Governance Arrangements, Financial Management, Business Case, Stakeholder engagement and communication management, Conflict resolution, and Leadership.

Qualifications for the Senior Project Manager

  • Degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Project Management Qualification such as Association of Project Management (APM) RPP or PMQ.
  • Leadership and Management Certification.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
