Job description

YACHT Engineering has a new role at TNO (in Delft) for a Senior Project Manager.

About the Role

Join the Quantum Technology department of TNO in Delft as a Senior Project Manager, where you will lead cutting-edge projects in collaboration with clients and partners.

You will be involved in every stage of the project lifecycle-from initial proposal development and customer negotiations to execution, delivery, and technology maturation.

As a Senior Project Manager, you will transform innovative ideas into viable solutions, playing a key role in advancing our quantum technologies.

Working in multidisciplinary teams, you will drive the development of state-of-the-art hardware and pioneering production processes, contributing to a rapidly growing ecosystem.

Your role will involve managing multiple projects simultaneously, with a strong emphasis on developing new project proposals, particularly in nanofabrication of diamond-based quantum devices.

Key Responsibilities

• Oversee financial planning, forecasting, and budget control for projects.
• Proactively manage risks, track technical progress, and ensure milestones and deliverables are met.
• Work closely with technical leads to translate high-level objectives into concrete action plans and detailed project roadmaps.
• Ensure projects are executed within scope, budget, and quality requirements, while meeting deadlines.

Important: the commercial and sales aspects of this role are crucial, as the projects must be presented and sold to investors. Effective communication and lobbying are key components of this position.

Job requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics, Mathematics, or Engineering.
• 8+ years of experience in project management
• Background in quantum technology or nanofabrication (a plus but not mandatory)
• Hands-on expertise in:

- Costing analysis, EAC (Estimate at Completion), ETC (Estimate to Complete)

- Risk assessment and contingency planning

- Resource and milestone planning

- Procurement oversight

• Proven experience in leading large R&D projects with hardware manufacturing.
• IPMA certification (or equivalent) is advantageous
• Strong experience in stakeholder management

Arbeidsvoorwaarden

Terms of employment

It concerns a secondment agreement at TNO via YACHT for one year, with possibility of extension and a good future perspective to join TNO with a permanent contract after first year.

We offer a competitive salary in accordance with the TNO Collective Labor Agreement, and an ATV allowance (maximum salary of 6500 euro gross per 4 weeks based on 40 h per week).

Full-time (40 h p/w preferred; 32-36 h p/w is discussible)

You will work on location at TNO in Delft (3 days - on-site; 2 days - remote) and will be part of a challenging and innovative projects.
