Job overviewWe are looking to recruit an experienced nurse able to lead our expert team of clinical staff on both day and night shifts as part of our dynamic, highly reputable multidisciplinary team.
As a senior sister, you should hold both a neonatal and mentorship qualification and have previous experience at band 6.
We pride ourselves in developing leaders for the future and as such, will enhance your leadership and management skills through individualised professional leadership and clinical development.
Our nurses have the responsibility for planning, managing, and coordinating clinical care for babies requiring high levels of nursing care and supporting staff to develop these skills on the unit.

Main duties of the job- To act as a professional role model
- To lead and co-ordinate the nursing team, taking continuing responsibility for the management and organisation of the clinical area

Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesClinical Practice
- To work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, Trust Policies, and Procedures
- To act as an expert for the care of neonates/infants, providing effective leadership and acting as a positive role model
- To set agreed standards of nursing care and to monitor them and take action to improve if necessary
- To communicate effectively with patients, their parents/carers, and all healthcare personnel
- To promote a holistic and multi-disciplinary approach to care, ensuring continuity of care
- In conjunction with senior nurses within the care group, to develop clinical policies and protocols relevant to the area, ensuring that practice is evidence-based
- Registered Nurse - Adult or Child Branch
- Formal qualification diploma/degree or working at this level and able to critically analyse situations
- Post registration qualification in mentorship or ENB 997/998 or equivalent
- Current NALs certificate or willingness to undertake
- Extensive clinical experience in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
- Able to demonstrate continuing professional development and commitment to the professional development of others
- Awareness of current developments and national policy in own clinical specialty
- Knowledge of Safeguarding policies and procedures and ability to refer concerns appropriately
- Can analyse and interpret information in an effective manner and exercises sound judgment
- Evidence of utilising evidence-based practice and writing guidelines
- Evidence of effective multi-disciplinary working
- Has demonstrated leadership skills in a supervisory/team leader context
- Demonstrates evidence of developing innovative practice and of being proactive in the management of change
- Basic IT and computer skills
- Experience in budgetary management and control, or the willingness to acquire this
- Experience of audit
- Previous involvement in quality initiatives
- Has the ability to adapt to changing situations
- Demonstrates commitment to high standards of patient care and service delivery
- Highly self-motivated - possesses high standards of attainable goals, to be more effective and efficient
- Flexibility - to be able to adapt relentlessly to ensure achievement of objectives within constantly changing situations and environment

You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
