Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist
Posted 10 days 10 hours ago by Neuro Rehab Times
Come and join one of the UK's largest providers of complex care. We proudly employ over 4000+ people - no matter what your experience, we have jobs for everyone.
At Blackheath Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, we don't just provide care - we change lives.
Take Andreous, for example - a retired barber, devoted husband, and father - who was recently discharged after months of intensive rehabilitation following a ruptured aneurysm. When he arrived in November 2024, his speech was severely affected, and he faced major challenges with cognition and balance. Thanks to the dedication and expertise of our multidisciplinary team, including a pivotal contribution from our Speech and Language Therapy team, Andreous made incredible strides in his recovery.
Over the course of eight weeks, our Speech and Language Therapists worked closely with Andreous to support his communication and cognitive rehabilitation. Through personalised therapy sessions and tailored interventions, the team helped him regain clarity in speech, rebuild confidence, and reconnect with his loved ones - something his family described as "incredibly meaningful" during a deeply emotional discharge.
Now, we're seeking a dedicated Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our skilled and compassionate team at Blackheath. This is a unique opportunity to develop your leadership skills while making a profound impact - supporting individuals like Andreous to rediscover their voice, rebuild their confidence, and regain independence.
What you'll be working:
Our standard working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. However, we understand the importance of a positive work-life balance, and therefore, if you require some flexibility to better suit your personal or professional needs, we encourage you to discuss this with us, and we will do our best to accommodate your preferences where possible.

- Develop and oversee the implementation and evaluation of individualised treatment programmes and goals and provide advice to the Speech and Language Therapy and wider inter-disciplinary team.
- Develop comprehensive Speech and Language Therapy discharge plans, referring to and liaising with relevant community services.
- Always manage clinical risk within own caseload and support the clinical lead in managing clinical risk across the Speech and Language Therapy team.
- Attend relevant local meetings that have a direct impact on the Speech and Language Therapy team e.g. Clinical Governance and Team Meetings.
- Contribute to Centre based audits.
- The post holder may be required to provide cover at our nearby Chislehurst site.
