Job Description

Gamma is a leading supplier of Unified Communications as a Service (UCaaS): we provide voice, data and mobile products and services to the UK, German, Spanish and Benelux business markets.

Gamma is expanding its UCaaS presence in Europe with a family of businesses focusing on digital automation, delivering Gamma-powered services to SME customers via a network of channel partners in Germany, Spain, and the Benelux region.

Our team work fast, with a start-up type of mindset but working within a leading European business.

Who are we looking for?

The team are looking for an exciting and dynamic senior systems developer who can slot right in to their team. As an internal facing team, our highest priority is to provide support for the existing suite of monitoring, diagnostic and reporting tools. These tools are consumed by hundreds of our colleagues, and are instrumental in our day to day operation.

Our second priority is to develop new software that can provide exciting new and unique features to the company. We often work with other teams that have a particular telecommunications function or similar specialisation. These teams are highly technical and will often describe very specific problems that they hope to solve, that is where we come in.

What will you be doing day-to-day?

  • Software & API Development
    • Support, develop and enhance the existing suite of monitoring, diagnostic and reporting tools.
    • Develop and maintain new software that provides unique benefits and features.
    • Develop and maintain APIs.
    • Work with cloud, virtualised and bare metal equipment.
  • Testing
    • Develop tests at various levels to ensure high quality, stable deployments.
    • Ensure testability of software at all levels.
  • Deployments
    • Use of CI/CD pipelines in the cloud and on premises.
    • Ensure deployments can be monitored and integrated into our larger monitoring system.
  • Teamwork
    • Facilitate decision making by collaborating with colleagues, face-to-face, online and over the phone.
    • Liaise with teams that are on the production side of the data with high domain knowledge. Understand the requirements and how this data can be consumed, further processed, and presented.
    • Be an active contributor to defining and delivering technical roadmaps of the team.

What you'll need

Experience and skills (required):

  • Code
    • PHP with 3+ years of experience. (procedural and OOP)
    • Vanilla JavaScript with 3+ years of experience
    • Python with 3+ years of experience
    • VS Code
  • Best Practice
    • Good understanding of design patterns and system architecture
  • Database Knowledge
    • SQL & MySQL
    • NoSQL (Elastic)
    • Familiarity with working with large datasets
    • Caching, schema management and query optimisations
  • Bash with 3+ years of experience
  • Experience with Cloud based and on premises software deployments
  • Containerisation
  • Version Control & Project Management
    • GIT
    • Atlassian suite

Experience and skills (desired):

  • AWS
    • Lambda
    • Cloud Watch
  • OCI
    • Any OCI experience a big bonus
  • SIP, Web RTC & RTP
    • Any telecoms or large network knowledge a bonus
    • Any other low level protocol understanding a bonus
