Senior Tax Manager

The opportunity:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Tax Manager to join our team. This pivotal role, reporting to the CFO, involves managing and overseeing all tax-related activities for Zurich International Life, ensuring compliance with international tax laws, and implementing effective tax strategies to optimise our financial performance in collaboration with the Group's tax function. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of global tax regulations (direct and indirect taxes), excellent leadership skills, a self-starting work style, and the ability to work collaboratively across various departments and regions.
Key responsibilities:
- Tax Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive tax strategies that align with Group tax strategy and policies and the organisation's overall financial goals.
- Compliance Management: Ensure compliance with all local, national, and international tax regulations and reporting requirements.
- Tax Return Oversight: Oversee the preparation and submission of accurate tax returns and related documentation (direct and indirect taxes, transfer pricing, etc).
- Audit Coordination: Manage and coordinate tax audits and investigations, providing necessary documentation and responses.
- Risk Mitigation: Identify and mitigate tax risks, ensuring the organisation's tax practices are efficient and effective and in line with the Group's tax policies.
- Tax Reporting: Prepare quarterly tax reporting packages in line with IFRS regulations and provide required additional information to the Group.
- Expert Consultation: Provide expert advice on tax implications of business transactions, proposition development, mergers, acquisitions, and other corporate activities to all the international branches of Zurich International Life.
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Collaborate with finance, legal, and other departments, including the Group Tax function, to ensure integrated and strategic tax planning.
- Legislative Monitoring: Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on the organisation.
- External Liaison: Liaise with external tax advisors, auditors, and regulatory authorities as needed.
- Transfer Pricing Management: Manage adherence to Group's transfer pricing policies and prepare documentation to ensure compliance with international transfer pricing regulations.
- Service Level Agreements: Oversee the establishment and maintenance of service level agreements (SLAs), ensuring clarity and adherence to defined standards.
Your skills and experience:
- Extensive experience in tax management, including international tax expertise.
- In-depth knowledge of IAS 12 and local statutory accounting principles.
- Proven track record in minimising tax burdens and ensuring compliance.
- Strong technical research skills for complex tax issues.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for consulting with business units and managing interactions with auditors and tax authorities.
- Ability to mentor and train less experienced tax associates and consultants.
- Deep understanding of global tax regulations.
- Exceptional leadership skills and collaborative abilities.
