About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Underwriter to join our dynamic team in Worcester. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting within the insurance industry, coupled with a solid understanding of risk assessment and policy pricing. As a Senior Underwriter, you will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting complex insurance applications, ensuring that risks are accurately assessed and managed in line with company guidelines and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Assess and underwrite complex insurance applications for both new business and renewals.
2. Evaluate risk exposures and make informed decisions regarding coverage, terms, and pricing.
3. Work closely with brokers, agents, and clients to gather necessary information and provide expert advice.
4. Ensure all underwriting activities comply with company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
5. Monitor market trends and competitor offerings to maintain competitive pricing and product development.
6. Support and mentor junior underwriters and contribute to their professional development.
7. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of underwriting decisions and client interactions.
8. Collaborate with claims, risk management, and actuarial teams to assess and mitigate risk effectively.
9. Participate in the development of underwriting strategies to enhance business growth and profitability.

Requirements:

1. Proven experience as an Underwriter, with at least 3 years in the insurance industry.
2. Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, practices, and procedures.
3. Experience in underwriting complex cases across multiple insurance lines.
4. Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
5. Ability to build strong relationships with clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders.
6. In-depth understanding of risk management and mitigation strategies.
7. Strong communication and negotiation skills.
8. Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office applications.
9. A proactive, solution-focused approach with the ability to work under pressure.
