Software Engineer (Creative Digital - Unreal / Python)

Hybrid, working from office in Glasgow City

Overview

FPSG seek a passionate Software Engineer to support digital productions and develop associated tooling solutions. This role requires a strong computer science foundation to build and maintain bespoke software solutions. Ideally candidates will have exposure to the digital creative arts and/or digital/video artists.

In this digital development role, the key responsibilities will include:

  • Proactively develop new features and enhancements for existing tools and systems.
  • Own problem solving, from diagnosis through to resolution.
  • Work with production and development colleagues to maximise systems availability.
  • Provide bug fixing and enhancement coding across Maya and Unreal Engine tools.
  • Take ownership for the setup and usage of version control software Perforce.
  • Seek opportunities to introduce automation solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand needs and deliver effective technical solutions.
  • Continually seek to improve existing codebases to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Support documentation and knowledge share, promoting best practices.

To be successful in this digital development role, you will need to demonstrate experience including:

  • Degree educated in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or similar.
  • A strong proficiency in Python coding.
  • A high degree of familiarity with several of the following: Unreal Engine, blueprints, UE C++, Maya, Adobe, FastAPI.
  • Strong working knowledge of version control/source code management software such as GIT or Perforce.
  • A demonstrable track record in effective debugging, troubleshooting and resolving complex software issues.
  • Experience with Agile practices such as Test Driven Development / TDD and a practical understanding of SOLID principles.
  • Exposure to automation tools and methodologies.

Please note where hybrid working can be flexible, the business often has responsive project needs; as a result, candidates are expected to be within an easy commutable distance of Glasgow city.
