If so, joining the Barts Heart Centre Radiography department may be the correct move for you. We are currently seeking a Specialist Cardiac Radiographer to cover maternity leave within our Cardiac MRI service. The department is made up of 3 dedicated Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) Imaging scanners and a Cardiac CT (CCT) scanner, with plans to expand our services across the Trust.

The department has won 2 awards for scanning pacemakers and is a National Leader in scanning patients with Cardiac devices. As part of Barts Heart Centre, the department is involved in a large amount of research and complex scanning with plenty of opportunities to get involved. We are immensely proud to have many of our Radiographers publishing research and representing us at conferences both in the UK and around the World.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work as a specialist in Cardiac MRI and be responsible for providing safe, prompt and effective imaging with a variable caseload of patients. Depending on the skill set and interests of the post holder the role can include rotation through Cardiac Cath labs which may involve on-call duties. Patients will present with a full range of complex conditions and the post holder will be responsible for carrying out the appropriate diagnostic procedures to support the diagnosis of complex conditions. The post holder will supervise, support and assist students and junior radiographers in service delivery and personal development.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • BSc or Diploma in Diagnostic Radiography
  • HCPC State Registration
  • Post Graduate specialist training in MRI.
Experience
  • Demonstrable evidence of post qualification experience
  • Demonstratable evidence of experience working independently as a Cardiac MRI Radiographer
  • Experience of working with junior staff and students.
  • Experience in pursuing innovation and role development in radiography.
Skills
  • Advanced knowledge in a range of Imaging techniques and innovations.
  • Demonstrate awareness of responsibility to and advocacy for patients.
  • Teaching and training skills with the ability to adapt training and teaching styles in response to needs of the trainee.
  • Team player with enthusiasm to learn Cardiac Radiography, with the ability to engage staff at all levels.
  • PACS, RIS and CRS knowledge and experience.
  • IT skills, with advanced levels of understanding of Microsoft office.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm and have the ability to motivate others.
  • Ability to work under pressure whilst subject to interruption.
  • Willingness to embrace new ideas and concepts.
  • Very high personal and radiographic standards, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to use own initiative, solve problems and make decisions.
  • Evidence of participation in QA Programme and maintenance of agreed standards.
  • Good Understanding of legislation relating to Health & Safety and Magnet Safety.
