Job overview

To work closely with all members of the gastroenterology team to ensure that patients receive seamless care within the Trust and community. To provide specialist advice to support assessment, planning and implementation of care for patients with Inflammatory Bowel disease and where appropriate to deliver programmes of care. To carry out specialist nursing procedures. To contribute to specialist education and training programmes for other staff and learners.

Main duties of the job
  • Assist to establish and maintain effective communication with various individuals and groups on complex potentially stressful topics in a range of situations relating to inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
  • Develop knowledge and practice within IBD.
  • Monitor and maintain health, safety and security of self and others in own work area.
  • Contribute to the development of IBD services.
  • Contribute to quality improvement projects within IBD.
  • Promote people's equality, diversity and rights.
  • Assess and address people's health and wellbeing needs when those needs are complex and change across the caseload relating to IBD.
  • Develop practice in addressing individuals' health and wellbeing needs.
  • Assist with research and development within IBD.

Person specification
