Job Description

We are looking for a pharmacist to join our team, as a Specialist Pharmacist in Oncology and Haematology.

You will be supporting the Cancer Service by clinically screening and verifying prescriptions for SACT with reference to authorised protocols, pathology results, and other relevant parameters. This post also supports Technical Services, with involvement of maintaining Standard Operating Procedures, together with the Chief Technician and Lead Pharmacist.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will deputise for the Lead Pharmacist where appropriate. This post includes participation in the seven day pharmacy service, dispensary cover, bank holiday and on-call rota.

Person Specification Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Pharmacy
  • Registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
  • Post graduate Diploma in clinical pharmacy
  • Registered independent prescriber or working towards
Skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written to present complex, sensitive or contentious information in a possible hostile, antagonistic or emotive atmosphere
  • Ability to manage and implement change
  • Ability to influence and communicate with senior medical, managerial, nursing and pharmacy staff
  • Previous use of electronic prescription systems (as JAC and Chemocare)
Knowledge
  • Up to date knowledge on the latest treatments for cancer
  • Knowledge on Technical Services, including GMP
  • Experience of biosimilar switch process

£61,927 to £68,676 a year per annum inclusive of HCAs
